Shell Fuel Rewards Approval!!

After upgrading my Cap1 Platinum to the QS on Tuesday, I took the next step to try to look for a good gas card. So I took the chance at the Shell Fuel Rewards Mastercard.I really wanted to wait until later in the spring to apply but I saw that it's not a difficult card to approved for no matter which card they give me. Got approved for the Shell Fuel Reward card (not the Mastercard) with a $200 cl. I do have a AAoA of 4.1 years, no late payments on my cards for the past two years, 68% utilization (going to down alot within the next three months to put 2 cards at $0 balance) and they pulled EX with my 616 score. Not mad at all that about not geting the Mastercard nor about the $200 cl. I primarily get gas at Shell and I use the Fuel Rewards every Tuesday on it and plus I figure it can boost my score by making the payments in full each month (only spend around $50-60/month on gas). Next card on my agenda is a Savor One, CSP or Amex around the fall when my score is much higher or if another pc opportunity pops up on one of my other cards.

Some advocate getting a low limit gas card to prevent from getting your info stolen from swiping at the pump. I've thought about getting one. Seems like you've already got it handled so Congratulations! on your approval.

That does make sense to have that due to people trying to use gas pump skimmers for fraudulent reasons.

I think it may be the next card I get. I get gas a lot...at shell, I mean.

Did you have any recent cards opened at the time of approval?

The last card that I opened prior to this was the Cap1 QS1, but that was back around June last year when I got approved for it. Only had 2 or 3 INQ for 2018. Got denied for a cli by Chase during the summer but I don't remember if they did a hp or sp.

Congrats!

You can download the Shell app to pay from app for your gas, and you sound like you're fueling enough to possibly earn more cents off through that! (Plus, you don't swipe your card at the pump, you enter a code the app gives you, no skimming can happen.)

Congrats on your approvals.  That too is my reason for having gas cards, for safety, and I have been using the Shell app for the code at the pump, it does make things a lot easier.
