Re: Should i pull the trigger...

I would just go back in and apply for the slate that you have offered also and then when you get the cards in the mail, move the CL from slate to freedom and close the slate out.... I think you have easier time with that than getting a CLI on the Freedom.  That's a standard message when you are approved with chase to call if you want more cl but not sure exactly how good they are about giving more.

Re: Should i pull the trigger...

Ok so i called back and they did asure me that even though i had a hard pull from them today that they would have to do anotherone to check for CLI. even thought they encourage me to call back for a cli a hard pull seems to be on the menu. I decided not to go for it so im just going to let my CL Grown by itself... i have heard of people getting auto cli's before 6 months so hopelfully ill see that my self.

So thank you guys...

Good luck with getting the Chase CLIs....they are really hard to get once your're stuck in a low limit, and are usually HP.

Hey, at least looks like we're in the same boat. My Discover is $500 and has been stuck there even though it's been throught the most spend....ugh

This is EXACTLY what I would have done.

congrats op on the Freedom approval. Requests for CLI will always be hp, FYI.

Yup definitely do this before its too late! Chase is based in EST -- so remember that.

Actually, just thinking you're too late lol....it's already 3AM EST right now. It will be another hardpull if you decide to do this.

Re: Should i pull the trigger...

i would not use a HP for a CLI unless it was your only card period.  I would have apped for the slate and moved its limit I suppose.... but I am learning that Chase APR reductions are about as common as Capital One....and the only way to circumvent that is to reapply.... so since this is a rewards card, carrying a balance really wouldnt serve a purpose (aside form the 0 for 15 intro offer I guess).... Show some payment history with them, and when you see prequal offers with them at lower interest then you could reapply.  I think also you can get the freedom bonus once every 24 months as well.

I would see if you could over pay your account if you have a big charge to make.

Don't forget to register for rewards as you get 10% back at amazon until 12/31 once you activate it.  And if you really dont need anything but you still shop at amazon, I think you can just get a few Amazon gift cards. You'd be going towards your bonus spend, plus getting a nice discount. Win win.

Congratulations on the approval! Welcome to the world of low limit Freedom cards Smiley Happy Mine was about $3,500 before they CLD it down to $1,500 but it's performing well. The $500 will be enough to allow you to work the 5% bonus categories, since you can only spend $1,500 in a quarter anyway.
