So I applied for a CLI on my Amex card about 2 months ago. I was at 39k and just wanted to see if I could get over 40k (only asked for 5k). Of course they requested a 4506-C which I was ok with and expected. I will admit I did regret the request (and still kinda do) as there is no really good reason for it. It wasn't needed. I was just trying my luck. I sent it in. I received a letter of decline about 3-4 weeks later stating that the use was too low to approve the request. I agreed and moved on. No harm no foul, shouldn't have asked anyway.
Fast forward 30 days and I get a notification in the mail that "based on my account performance they increased my limit to 45k". I really don't know what happened but I mean I'll take it. I just found it strange and now it worries me. I don't want to be on their radar or anything. But if so, I did it to myself😞

Congrats on your AMEX Blue Cash Preferred CLI

Congrats on your AmEx CLI.
Congratulations on your Amex CLI!
Nice auto-CLI! That's a heck of a limit!
I would not worry at all about being on anyone's radar. Just a computer algorithm plugging values in and deciding you were worthy of an increase.

Thanks @Ficoproblems247 @CreditAggie @babygirl1256 @KingRue8500 !
@Ficoproblems247 Thank you for saying that cause I have been sweating bullets thinking I may have been pushing too far. I definitely will not be doing that again! But, I am thankful for the CLI.

LOL, grats on the surprise increase ![]()
Haha that was a pretty cool story.
Nice sweet surprise for you, congratulations!
It was a nice surprise but I was like, "Ok, what the heck just happened? Should I be worried now?!" Lol! I guess the request triggered them to take another look after the fact on their own accord. Oh well, thanks Amex!

Congrats on your AMEX CLI 🎉
