Confession, I was supposed to be gardening. And I intended to do just that. I am setting my daughter up in her apartment for the summer and we were at Target. We had a big purchase so I was planning to apply for the Red Debit Card. When we arrived at the checkout, I realized that I did not have my checking account info available. I wanted the 5% off of our purchase. So I just went ahead an applied for the Red Credit Card.
I was approved for $3,000! My Credit score is going to take a hit! We had to apply for her apartment and get renters insurance so with the CC apps for May I will be gardening for a little while for sure!
Congrats! Very nice initial CL!

It was $280 or around that amount before the 5%. It's not a lot, but for us it is since we don't shop at Target for that much. There were a couple of items however that offered 5% or more through their cartwheel app and I was told that they will stack discounts with the red card, so we saved over $30. I am not sure how much I will use it, but my daughter will probably use it more than me so either way it was worth opening the TL.
I really hadn't planned to open it. So I hadn't done much research here on initial CL's but it looks like for some reason they liked me. My Barclay had just reported (even though I don't have the cards yet) and Target matched their CL, so I am thinking that might be why I got that amount. Just guessing though....
Congrats! Thanks for sharing.
