Started my credit rebuild this year on Jan 2018 at Fico8 TU 546.
Age: 32
Income: 95K
Collections: 2 (both paid off as of Jan 2018)
3 Active Accounts Open: Self-Lender ($1100 Loan, $470 left), Discover Secured Card ($500 limit), and now USAA Preferred Cash Rewards ($3K CL ).
AAoA - 7 months before applying
Had 666-674 FICO across the board before applying
Self-lender has always been set to auto-pay. And I double-dipped and always left around $2.50 before statement date on my Discover.
Did this for about 8 months and my score has already gone up 130points... And I wasn't even going to bother opening up another card till my score was in the 700's but since I have a checkings account through USAA... I saw a pre-selected offer on my dashboard and got instantly approved. Only downside of this card is that its only 1.5%cb with no bonus compared to the wells-fargo cashwise and citi double cash, however, I plan on potentially using USAA (VA Loan) in order to get a house in 3-4 yrs.. So, I don't think I lost too much value in not getting a better flat cash back card.
This is my first post.. and I'd like to thank everyone that contributes to this board.. I learned so much here.. its crazy! Thanks for reading

Welcome to the myFICO forum!!!
Super Congrats on your USAA Preferred Cash Rewards $3,000 SL!!!
I'm also a fellow USAA member. This same card is on my radar as well.
You've achieved quite a bit in only 8 months. Your story is a testament
to the fact that it's not how much credit you have; it's all about how well
you use it. As a result of good credit management, your scores rose almost
130 points, USAA gives you a solid cash back card, and Discover unsecures
your secured card (most likely b/c of your USAA approval). You have a lot to
be proud of. Very well done indeed!
P.S. You didn't say anything in your post, but I'm assuming
you're either active duty, a veteran, or a family member of
an active duty member/veteran. As a 25 yr veteran myself,
Thank You for your service!!!

Thanks, I served in the Marines 05-09 and did a tour in Iraq 08. Took me awhile to adjust after I got out and took about 7 years after I got out to figure out what I really wanted to do for the rest of my life. Better late than never I guess.
