Moreso it is that any negative/derogatory mark (outside of a BK... which will include Late marks as well) would usually fall off of a credit report after 7yrs from the DOFD (Date of First Deleinquency... but to me more exact, 7yrs and 180 days; I believe) and thus it would not be included on the report nor the calculations of your FICO scores up to Fico version 9('s).
An Early Exclusion, having that specific delinquency removed/deleted from ones credit report(s) can be requested and approved (x number of months) prior to the 7yr mark. Time conditions of when a Credit Bureau is likely to approve an EE request varires per bureau.

that is how I understood the post... applying with creditors that use Transunion...
