I put in my application for the last card I want in my app spree, the US Bank Cash+ card.
Unsurprisingly, I got the 7-10 day message. I was kind of expecting this because my scores are definitely on the lower end, but I took a chance because US Bank usually pulls TU and my TU (709), while still mediocre for US Bank, is much higher than my other scores, so I was banking (no pun intended) on US Bank pulling TU. Sure enough, I got the alert on CreditKarma that US Bank pulled TU.
My question is, does it make a difference if I call now and speak to an underwriter or just wait it out and see what US Bank decides?
Also, when I call the application status number, the IVR says they cannot retrieve my application information. Has anyone heard of this before and what was the result?
I know someone is going to ask, so I am just going to go ahead and admit that I stupidly forgot to introduce IDA and ARS to Frosty the Snowman before applying.

Update: I cannot freaking believe it!!!! I ended up calling an underwriter!!!!! Approved for US Bank Cash+. $5000 limit!!!!!!
I was just hoping to get my foot in the door with the Cash Rewards - I was never expecting this!!!
Update #2: Received card and have more account information. APR 21.99%, TU score only 691 out of 839 on US Bank's internal scoring model. Card looks awesome in person! Online, the card looks very matte and muted. In person, the card is so freaking shiny I can see my reflection in the card, lol. I just love it (I know I'm vain!) ![]()
Good luck on your application.. You should find out in 3 days approx.. Hoping you get the Cash+, but be prepared for the Cash Rewards that can eventually be PC'ed assuming you have a 5k CL at time of PC. That is the thing I hate about US Bank like some other lenders they give you a different card if you don't qualify.. At least with US Bank you can eventually PC to the card you want or really applied for, but have the clause if you don't qualify for Cash+ you will be considered for Cash Rewards, etc.

I would actually be OK with that, if for no other reason than I plan to be gardening for quite awhile after this point and that will give me time to build the relationship with US Bank. I figured it would be better to get a HP and AAOA ding out of the way now rather than later (as I am probably going to be getting a mortgage near the end of the 2016.) How does U.S. Bank notify people of decisions? Email? Or do I have to keep calling the IVR (and hope they can retrieve my application information by that point.
)
Honestly not sure if I received an email, I just called in automated system and said approved.. I knew what I was applying for( pre-approved mailed for Cash Rewards) due to banking relationship with them, so pretty much a guranteed approval and they softed me a few weeks prior to mailer as well. What I wasn't happy about is the CL when I called in and tried to recon to no avail, but that is another story
So just call each day on the automated system and see if you are approved, if so you will have to call and ask for the CL and which you get approved for. Or you always can wait for snail mail or the card or rejection.. There is no way to speed up US Bank![]()
In my case they sent an email after about 4 business days. As the other posters have mentioned they manually review 99.9% of apps whether its cold or if you have a banking relationship with them. Good luck. They will grow with you once you are in the door.
Yeah, just wait. Calling will do nothing -- they don't work like some lenders where you can call and get it decisioned "right then and there". They take their time, and it's usually 2-3 days.
Hope you get the card, but as Curiosity mentioned, be prepared for the chance of getting the lesser Cash Rewards. Nevertheless, anything beats nothing, and in most cases you can eventually upgrade.
Whatever happens, as you mentioned, stick to the garden from now til the mortgage. You have a decent number of new accounts now, and you want them as aged as possible for a better mortgage rate -- which is something you'll be paying for 15 to 30 years. Good luck
It seems like 99% of US Bank apps go to 7-10 day verification so I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Hope you get the card!
