US Bank Altitude Reserve

Following up on my previous thread about what to do with my joint account.

Decided to close the joint account and reopen as a single account. Didnt want to pay the $75 additonal card fee for years to come and they weren't offering points.

I decided the Wifi passes alone are worth the $75. I used every single one + 12 from FlexPerks last year so that saved me some money.

USB will transfer the 16K pending points from my previous card to this new account and then close the joint account. I just redeemed over $1500 in points while I was mauling over this decision. I didnt really want the new account but such is life.

Stats :

710 TU FICO 8 with 1 collection

USB relationship for 18 months with 2 credit cards

several Banking Products

Seriously LOL/24 I would guess 18/24 now

5 new accounts within 6 months since that seems to be a rumor that I don't think is true at all. The new accounts are mainly 5 months old except 1 amex card very recent.

Approved 13.5K so over double what the joint account was

Congrats and good decision!
Did you do this by phone or apply online like a regular application? I'm guessing a combination? since they're transferring your old points to this card.

I called and talked to one of the managers there about my different options. I was honestly hoping they would just push the points from pending. That is not possible, a statement has to cut before anyone can do anything with them.

I told her I would be applying for another card as a individual account and she said she would be more then happy to give me an extension for a couple days on the AF refund. AF posted January 3rd. I can't cancel until Feb 6th when my next statement cuts otherwise I will loose all my pending points.

She even told me to be sure to use the travel credit before I cancelled the joint account. She said she thought that was fair for the headache of them not being able to change the Priority Pass membership over and having to reapply for a new card. She even gave me 5,000 points.

So I guess I gotta burn the travel credit in the next couple days. Will be doing AA giftcard.

Definitely a headache to go through to get the same card again. Stay on top of that now. Points are awarded when your statement cuts but they don't post right away. I've noticed there's a delay between the time the statement closes and when they appear on the AR rewards site.

My question again then, did you apply online for the AR this time and got an auto-approval? Just wondering because if you didn't close the other account yet, that means you're able to have more than one of the same product?

Yeah, I honestly may have just ran with the points if they had been able to push them from pending status. But $325 plus 5K in points is half the orginal sub so I cant complain too much.

Yes, I applied online and recieved a page showing me the above offer and was asked if I wanted to accept. It was an auto approval.

You can be have two Altitude Reserve cards. I made sure to ask that before applying.
