Walmart OnePay Approval

The past couple of weeks, every time I logged into my Walmart account, there was a link saying I was pre-approved for a spend card. I've been very wary of poking the sync bear, but I use Walmart+ delivery quite often, so I figured I would chance it. I did do the pre-qual the other day, and it said I was eligible for the Mastercard. I never gave it much thought because I was under the impression they would try to approve me for the Mastercard first, then drop down to the spend card if I didn't. Well, I got approved for a 3k spend card, and I don't think I was even considered for the Mastercard.  It would have been nice to get the rewards, but I will still use it.

Re: Walmart OnePay Approval

Okay, so you probably didn't qualify since they didn't give you the mastercard but the spend card.  Sounds like this is the pre qualify application turned into a hard pull full application.   But really, any credit card would be better with cash back over the spend card.   Even a cash back debit card.

Re: Walmart OnePay Approval

I just used the pre-approval link instead of trying the full app again. It just asked me for my phone number and the last 4 of my SSN. Personally, didn't know they gave out that kind of limit for the store card.

Did you have an option to decline the Spend Card?

On another app page I see that the Spend card qualifies for the same SUB.  So confusing, what a mess.  I wouldn't touch it with a 10ft. pole.

Re: Walmart OnePay Approval

At the beginning, it asks you to accept or decline the offer, but that was before you even entered any personal info. I never thought to take a screenshot of the pre-approval link. They were very persistent with the offer because it was at the bottom of every page when I was browsing. I did get the sub - Get $35 cash back. Spend $75+ within 30 days of card opening.

Synchrony, sub prime vultures,

oh well, if you needed it, take the SUB and see if you can PC to the Rewards card later, damage is already done.  They did HP you, I've read.  Meanwhile, get the paypal debit card, no hard pull, no credit card slot used.  Get 5% at Walmart, swipe for cash back under groceries category.

Re: Walmart OnePay Approval

@rgninja  I would suggest investigating the Walmart+  program. It has several benefits it cost about $100 per year. One the side benefits is the Walmart Pay card will give you 5% cash back.  I use it due to the free home delivery for grocery orders over $35.00 there are other benefits as well.  I have been a Walmart+ member since 2022.

What is this card?  It's not the Onepay Rewards Card, is it?  The op received the Onepay spend card, no rewards, but sounds like some offers for spend.

It's far too confusing all these options with variation of name.

Re: Walmart OnePay Approval

@ElvisCaprice  I hope this will take some of the confusion out of Walmart One Pay. The link is below

https://www.forbes.com/advisor/credit-cards/walmart-onepay-card-review/

For me I was a Walmart  + customer before the card came out so it was an easy dicision to make.

The  key to the dicision  is will the spending of around $100 to become a Walmart+ customer worth it.
