How To Check for Prequalified Offers
Log in first, then click:
https://www.americanexpress.com/us/credit-cards/check-for-offers/?inav=menu_cards_prequal_offer
(Actual URL from navigating to Menu, Cards, Check for Pre-qualified Card Offers.)
Check for SUB Offer
You have to call or chat to find out. It's not listed in the account anywhere.
"Credit Steps"
Amex would have no idea what you're talking about, but it would have been in the approval email. If it's not there, you have a regular approval, so feel free to ask for a CLI 61 days after you applied. (Account Services tab, Card Management tab, Increase Your Credit Limit.)
Glad you were able to get your account created! Even if you don't see that you're prequalified for a card, you can View All Cards, then when you click the Apply button, you'll see the somewhat reassuring "Congratulations @Brian_Earl_Spilner, you're Pre-Approved" or the iffy "It's easy to expand your membership" up top on the application page. If you click Rates and Fees and have one APR listed, that's as close to a sure thing as you can get with Amex. (The Mercedes-Benz card was an exception since it only had one APR to begin with, but it looks like that one has disappeared now. I do recall the announcement about the cobranded Platinum charge card, but didn't realize they were also getting rid of the credit card, too.)

The link just takes me to a page showing 3 recommended cards, the same one if you're just browsing their site. I did find earlier, that clicking on the "apply now" while logged in shows the "expand your membership" wording, which is fine as I only have eyes on 2 of their cards. One's a charge, the other, revolver. Neither are pre-approved, which again, is ok as I couldn't meet spend on 2 SUBs anyways. I just don't spend enough money. I would have to start paying my family's bills for them. There is no wording about their steps program so looks like I dodge a bullet and I should have qualified for the sub!
On a side note, I noticed they had the word "again" included so they obviously found me in their system from 19 years ago. Wonder if my new card will have my original "member since" date or if it will be on my next one.

Congratulations again, ████████████. If you use the URL for the old site design, does it show Card Member Since 1999? DW and I were getting primary cards with application date the first go-around but AU cards and replacement cards with the correct years. The Delta Reserve cards we just got both had the correct 2002 and 2003 years on them. If you do get a Member Since 2018 card, just wait a while and report yours as damaged and they'll send you a new one with the correct year.

Oh wow, yeah, it shows card member since 1999. And I would appreciate it if you didn't post my real name like that.

Now you'll need to update us with the MS date when it arrives, Mr. ████████████, Card Member Since 1999.

Is it a coin toss what it will show depending on what the old site shows? The welcome email was minutes after I apped so they had already found me.

It's probably a coin toss on whether the card will say 99 or 18. Up until the Delta Reserve cards, over the past few years we were certainly batting 1.000 on primary cards having the current year, but replacement and AU cards having the real MS year. My original SPG card arrived together in the same envelope with DW's and said 17 while hers said 03.
