Hiya everyone!
So I was doing my usual credit seeking
and saw first tech listed in my google credit union
search.
I applied for membership and was approved instantly.
Attached Plaid to the application.
Was offered 20K in loans at 11.9%
wasn't interested.
Then I decided to check out the credit cards.
I have read numerous posts about
having too much credit as being a non starter with them
so I decided to be safe and get a secured card.
They offer them from 500 to 25,000
I opened one for 2K.
This was the absolute longest approval
that I have ever waited for,
at least 7 minutes then I was approved.
Unlike many other credit unions,
or credit cards,
I just had to secure the loan
with my attatched banking account,
I did not have to actually have to transfer money to them.
Just check that they would take the money out if I were ever in default.
I understand that this is an unusual approval
but it was hard as heck to do!
If this doesnt qualify as an approval I also open up
another Amex card today,
actually right before I apped for them LOL!!!!
Hope everyone is doing well.
I just thought that if I get my foot in the door with these guys
with a secured card it would be easier to ask for a regular card,
allthough this card does come with the rewards and all.
Gotta run everyone!
Cheers
Congratulations. Great people over there. I had 9 open cards a time of application for the odyssey. The benefits are pretty good over there. And sharp looking cards. Enjoy yours!

Thank you for sharing that information with me @Traveler101
It is very appreciated. They have not finished setting everything up on my
app so I look forward to seeing what I can do.
Thanks again,
Cheers
Congrats on your First Tech Platinum Secured MC approval

So I guess I added to many edits to this post and
cannot do anymore. So I will fill you in on what happened when I talked to First Tech.
Got first call at about 2:20 EST and was actually trying out some new ear buds
when I answered this call. Heard that he was from FT so I unplugged the ear phones and
gave him my full<allmost> attention.
He said that his job was to get their customers the right products
and so he wanted to talk. I said "You want to know why I want a secured card don't ya?"
He laughed and said "well they are usually for people just starting out or in trouble with their
credit and none of these things apply to you"
I said this was true. But let me ask you this. "There was no way you were going to give me
an unsecured credit card was there?"
He actually laughed and said there was no way I would be approved.
He was looking at my CR and said I dont believe you need any more credit at all"
I said fair enough. But I still want it.
I told him that my daughters Mother lives in Belgium half the year and that I
wanted the chip and pin card that they use in Europe.
He said "Oh well that makes sense we can accomadate you...I see you were allready approved
and funded your membership so I will just start processing this through.
I said great....he said to give him a call if I wanted to talk about the pre approved
loans blah blah blah. I said "Sure thing"
We ended the call on a happy note.
Now the basics of what I just told my new friend was true....but I do not want that card bc I'm going to use it in Belgium
I simply wanted the card because it was a hard to get card and 2K on a secured card
didnt seem like a big deal to have it in my wallet.
The second call was from a more nuts and bolts guy and wanted to know
how I wanted to fund the account. I apparently do indeed need to shove 2K
over to them. I honestly told him that I had just set up an external link...was waiting for the
two small deposits to hit and I woukd send it over in a flash.
That made him happy and he welcomed me into First Tech CU and said if I
want to explore other products he would be more then happy to help.
He would call me in a week to tidy everything up..
End conversation.
What I took away from these conversations was that if
some man, who had passed a rigurous background check, wanted
to give me two grand, I would just say Thank You. Period. It did not have to be that complex.
I had literally allready signed my name on the loan approval in DocuSign.
Okay that was long.
Hope everyone is well and happy credit hunting,
or gardening as the case may be,
Cheers
in docusign.

Thank you for the attaboy @KingRue8500
appreciate the post,
Cheers
Congrats although wonder if they will ever unsecure it? Ya first tech as you know doesnt like one having tons of available credit as you eluded to.
I had a third call now wanting me to part
Told her I would think about diverting some funds.
with some of my funds LOL!!!
This woman was very nice and had a very hip
sales edge in her speaking voice.
They are very thorough in trying to seperate you
from your money :-)
Definitely an interesting read as to how your conversations went. Be sure to give them a call once your card is activated. They offer up the voice capture to protect against ai.
Sorry that you can't get a unsecured from them. I was terrified to apply. With 9 cards and twice my income in c lines, I thought no way. I had a bk still showing too. Hardest part for me was getting membership. Probably due to bk, I had to go through underwriting for membership. They are tough on folks with an abundant amount of open cc. But high wage earners with a strong rebuild can easily make it in even with some blemishes.
Loved the Belgium story. Never hurts to be creative.
Enjoy your new card.

Thanks @CreditCuriosity
No they never unsecure it.
But the last Lady I spoke with a few minutes ago
said they are big on working with there members
to create a good working relationship with them.
