Re: 18 and Clean, Thin File

Everyday I try and get the same limit increase. Do you mean playing hard to get as in calling the EO or just keep doing what I'm doing until I see something I like?

Congrats! What is your AAoA, if you don't mind me asking, and are both of your BoA accounts listed in your signature AU or individual status?

Re: 18 and Clean, Thin File

Im 19 and have been building my credit since last year. I have had my Discover student card for a year, and a capital one journey card for close to that. I waited a couple months after that to start applying again. I now have a marriott rewards visa, chase freedom, and delta gold skymiles. I just got the chase freedom, and have had the delta for 3 months. I got really high limits on my cards. I make just about the same annual income. I guess I just have a little more time on my credit history than you, and thats why you cant get increases.

Saph,

This is somewhat irrelevant to the subject in hand, but you sound very financially mature for your age. I think you're doing awesome! Do your best to make sure you never end up posting in the rebuilding thread..

Sincerely,

Re: 18 and Clean, Thin File

Thanks for the positivity! I am trying to stay financially sound as best as possible. Learning from my parent's poor financial decisions (over 1.5M in debt, bad debt), I now have a dour image of what not to do etched in my brain. Out of chaos comes order and thankfully I now know what to do at the perfect age to start forming sound financial habits!

Hopefully building credit early with financial institutions like Chase and American Express and maintaining positive history for a few years will look favorably by lenders when it's time to buy a home!

I'll update be sure to update in this thread my plans in the coming months for any apps, as well as Cap1 CLI requests, and their results.

Re: 18 and Clean, Thin File

Sorryfor the late reply; my AAoA sat around 8 months with the travel being my individual and 21k cash as being an AU!

Re: 18 and Clean, Thin File

Instead of going to Chase, why dont' you try Discover IT? Their CLI is SP, and using it responsibly may get you some easy CLIs every month.

Re: 18 and Clean, Thin File

I second on Discover. I had a very thin file. Started with $5500 limit, auto CLI to $8800 and 3 months later SP to $11K.

STOP TRYING DAILY!

Give it a month or so...

You might find THEY offer you a CLI vs requesting it....

Think of it like a relationship... you repeatedly trying makes you look desprate...
