2 Purchase Protection Claims with Amex in 4 months?

About 4 months ago, I had a Purchase Protection Claim with my Amex Blue Cash Everyday Card for an item that was stolen. Last week, I bought a new phone and of course my luck I broke it... I have been with Amex about a year (only 19). I would love to use the purchase protection to help me get any new phone, but afraid a second claim could put me on their bad side. Anyone have an experiance with this?

If its a legitimate claim, just do it. No need to short change yourself over a hypothetical problem that might arise. As more claims are filed, they might scrutinize future claims more, and if things are really out of control they may close the account, but it will take quite a bit of abuse to even get to that stage.

I agree, no need to be worried if the claims are legitimate.

Re: 2 Purchase Protection Claims with Amex in 4 months?

i wonder if ur claim is only for the value charged on your card?

for example, a new iphone would cost 650, but only 199 on contract. so say if you bought the phone and charged it through your card, only 199 is under purchase protection or the entire value of the phone, which is 650?

Re: 2 Purchase Protection Claims with Amex in 4 months?

I've filed enough of these to know the answer to this one... It's what ever is charged to the card..

Example
IPhone $600
Discount 400
Cash 100
Amex 100

Even though the total was $600 only 100 was charged to the AMex. So that's all that's covered and that's the most they will payout.

+1 it's credit card protection. So only what was charged on the card.

Whatever is charged. They are really insuring what amount you charged.
