As a follow up, they nerfed the daily login points + continuous streak bonus a bit down from 20 cents (5+5)*2 to 12 cents (1+5)*2. So now it's a card that you're being paid $40 a year to hold (for now) instead of $70. They mention that this could change at any point.
@Anonymous wrote:Hi all, I'm in the market for a 2%+ uncategorized card, and nearly pulled the trigger on the PPMC until reading Synchrony horror stories with account closures and other issues. The SoFi card looks like a really good alternative though with no FTF or requirement to leave $500 in a checking account.
Anyone who has the card, do you know when it reports? Have you experienced mid-cycle/random reporting at all? Has customer service been decent if you've had to use it yet? Any other issues/quirks with this card?
Thank you!
Hi! I can give you some answers! I opened this card in November, and was told that my statement dates would be the 15th of every month (which was incorrect.) My statement date was December 23. Payment is due January 17th. My account right now is only reporting to Equifax and Transunion. As of today Experian does not show the account on my report. I've made three payments so far, and it has been about a 7 day hold on my credit for each one of those payments. I've called to speak to customer service a few times about questions and for some reason, the phone system claims to verify me, but the customer service rep says it doesn't. I have to answer about 6-8 questions to claim my identity. This part honestly frustrates me because they ask questions that repeat information you've given them before, for example they asked for my home address including city state and zip code, then 3 questions later asked me for my zip code. They've also asked for full social, last 4 of social, birthday but only month and year, security code on the card, expiration date of the card, etc. (And just to include, yes, I called the number upon clicking it through the SoFi app and verified the phone number I called thru SoFi's website) Another gripe I have that somebody else posted is they've already removed some point earnings for the Member Rewards program, which is a bit upsetting, but nonetheless you still earn 2% back on every purchase using this card.

Do they update your balance immediately after payment, even though available credit is on hold? Just wondering if you need to make a payment atleast 7 days before the statement cuts in order to control utilization on the card.

I just made a payment, it does show a payment pending, but the balance has not been reduced. And to answer your second question, I did have a pending payment when my last statement cut, and it was weird because the app showed one number for available credit, and the statement showed the higher number as if the payment had been added to my available credit. Basically, the app and statement showed a different value, the app showed the hold while the statement did not.
only real complaint with this tv is the hold on payment never had to deal with those really ever before especially as you are "worthy" of credit yet they hold payments for who knows how long even if payment was taken from sofi money account mind boggled on that one. Minor drawback as will never use near the CL for this card
Plus you can earn more points ... they give you 100 for linking other accounts in Relay (their implementation of Plaid), points for direct deposit to your Money account (which also got nerfed - was 100 per DD now 5).
The way I look at it, I add those "extra" points to the interest I earn on the money account, so that's $3.80/month + .25% interest makes the Money account closer to 2% interest on my $2500 that I keep in there ... on top of the 2% cash back on the card. Overall, not bad.
Hopefully some of the issues will eventually go away as they move forward with becoming a "real" bank. Right now the accounts are owned and serviced by Bank of Missouri, SoFi just was approved to become their own bank (pending FDIC approval).

Okay, so update as a bit of a slap in my face. The payment posted as of 1/8, and my available credit has already updated, so it's already showing on my account.
I thought you all mentioned it being open to the public now? I can't find a way to apply? Anyone know a way?
