Points convert to statement credit at a penny per point and to SoFi Money at 2x (so you want to redeem to SoFi Money if you want cash), You can also do fractional shares or SoFi loan payments at 2x.
I have the legacy SoFi debit card that has unlimited cash withdrawals with no ATM fees + significant fractional shares + regular investments so I'm definitely up for this as a long term keeper card.
Question for you @notmyrealname23 ....as I don't have a credit product or loan with them, I don't see anywhere to accumulate points for logging in or doing any of the activities mentioned...and if I have been getting points, I don't see them referenced anywhere. Are you only seeing this since you owe them something and have the option of applying the points to a debt? I don't see anywhere to earn, accumulate or rules to earn. Thanks.

I have the option apparently because I have the credit card. When you click on "points" it has "redeem" and lists various options for redemption.

Thanks for the clarifying point. I got the invitation in my email today. Appreciate the explanation....Thanks

I'll chime in with another DP here. I had a combination of a few experiences mentioned upthread, culminating in the same end as @jnbowmar . I've been a SoFi member for a while now, used SoFi Money when the referral bonuses were better and invited a fair few friends/colleagues. Have since switched away, but always waited for their CC to come out. Signed up for waitlist almost immediately, never notified I was off it, but saw a colored in "apply" button in the CC tab about 2 weeks ago.
Applied, denied (scores mid-600s, CO about a year ago) understandably. Though, they do "invite" me to apply again 30 days from the last application date. Will certainly be waiting longer than that - and hoping for a SUB they're apparently now rolling out.
That said, I'm not at my normal mailing address, and I have now received 2 emails from SoFi letting me know my "new card is on its way" and (a few days later) my "new card has arrived." I suspect (poor) automated mailing, but we shall see when I return home this weekend...
If you don't mind, drop a note this weekend if they sent you a card...even though you mentioned they didn't approve you. I'm curious as to which record is correct...the "denied" but actually approved...or "approved" but stated denied and card mailed.
@cashorcharge Following up, I stopped by apartment yesterday and no white SoFi envelope for me. Not surprising (again, given recent profile),though definitely a point of improvement for the SoFi system in that they probably shouldn't be emailing denied applicants with info about their "approvals"...
Thanks for following up!
For those approved, does anyone know the following?
1) Is the statement closing date the same day of every month? (like Chase or BOA) or does it move around avoiding weekends like Citi? Do they let you change it?
2) What is the length of time between statement closing and the payment due date? The law is minimum 21days and I know some banks are stingy and want it right after 21 days, others give you closer to 27-28 days. Just wondering where this card fits in as I'm not familiar with the bank of missouri.
Edit: To answer question number 2, the terms say Your due date is 25 days after the close of each billing cycle.

I don't have exact answers, but I did call on Friday asking and I got a weird answer. She told me that my statement was supposed to close the 15th and be generated the 16th, but I didn't have one there. She then told me that since this billing period wasn't a full 30 days, the next statement will close on January 15th, resulting in close to a 50 day billing period. She told me also that you have at least 25 days until your payment is due, but could get up to 28 days.
I did ask about CLI's and she said product is too new to allow them, but to look forward for them in the future. She also said that I shuold keep an eye out for any promotions or possible point earning additions.
Finally, I've been having an issue where let's say I log into the app at 11:55PM, but stay signed in, and check the app at 12:10AM (15 mins later) it does not give me the points. I already let CS know about the bug and they just manually added my points.

Thank you for the insight! Interesting that they said due date can be up to 28 days. The more the merrier
And interesting that you are on a near 50 day billing cycle. With some other credit cards I have opened, the billing cycle opened on the application date and closed around 30 days later. So I typically wait to apply until the day I want the billing cycle to start.
Also, does anyone know if the SoFi credit card shows up automatically in budgeting apps like Mint and Personal Capital? I can't function without that.

Might want to keep an eye on your reports, just in case.
