After I posted I started watching a Youtube video about the Target Red Card. I had no idea it was for real.
Good thing is youre probably safer here than anywhere else on the webs. Locks, Freezes and Alerts as far as the eye can see.. ![]()
Thanks to the weekly data breaches, I now have a lifetime supply of Credit Monitoring that should be free anyway. As much money these data aggregators make there should be auto credit monitoring for every person on the planet. I am under no assumption that my SS# is anywhere remotely private. Underpaid part-time summer job High Schooler's are slinging data around like tic-tacs ![]()

And I am no fan of Merrick, but the analogy is absurd.
The key word in the statement is "lol", meaning it was a joke. Putting a DUI on a resume would be a job hunting career killer, unlike having a Merrick bank card.
Try it at McDonalds. I swear my local one will probably hire on the spot. The rest will seriously think about it.
On another thought it is not uncommon to get 10 cards if you structure it correctly and have a solid profile. Obviously the OP did this across both him and his significant other so both of them cannot apply for cards for a while now. This is one of those cases where two people are better than once. Having 6 different credit scores to play with will do things like this. I am assuming that his significant other also had good credit since he controlled it to a good number.

Obviously they structured it well and pulled it off. If they keep the cards open for s long time, that will provide a lot of flexibility when they want to close and open new accounts, not having to worry about how badly it will affect their scores.
