Upgrade my Chase Ink Cash to a Chase Ink Business Preferred.
1) I would never hit the spend for the Ink Biz Pref Card, so it's better to pick up the SUBs I can hit, and upgrade them. This card has also hit the lowest APR it offers, so should stay that when upgraded (which is lower than the Ink Biz Pref starts at). Aside from which Chase doesn't really want to give me significant CLs on my Ink cards, so I have to consolidate across cards to be eligible.
2) This will give the cell phones that are paid for on it protection (allowing me to drop the protection plan from the T-Mobile bill), which will save more monthly than downgrading from 5x to 3x on the payments will cost me.
2) This will also allow me to cancel my Sapphire Pref, as it replaces the Sapphire at 3x for Travel, rather than 2x, while staying at the $95 AF rate... the Dining category on the Sapphire is unneeded, and I have the same or better with and without FTFs on other cards. I will keep the Primary Car Rental insurance as well, although I get that through P2's Ritz now. The $50 hotel credit is only good if booked through Chase Travel, so goes completely unused.
Apply for a new Chase Ink Cash. The SUB has been broken up into a more accessible way, and I'm eligible for it again. If I am denied, I will product change my Ink Unlimited to an Ink Cash. I grabbed the Ink Unlimited in 2024 to get more CL I could consolidate to make my exiting Ink Cash eligible for the aforementioned upgrade to Ink Biz Pref this year. Ink Cash is just too good to not have one in my wallet.
Cancel my Sapphire Preferred card after sorting out everything above. (Or maybe downgrade to a Freedom? Doesn't seem needed though.)
Cancel my "old" AmEx Blue Biz Pref, as the newer one has a better APR and I do not need two.
Most likely cancel my AmEx Platinum. Waiting on Chase Sapphire Lounge PHL to open up "early 2025" and verify that it's a valid alternative for P2 (Ritz card gives access).
Possibly downgrade my BCP to a BCE; not sure if I'm giving it 1 or 2 years at this level to respect the upgrade SUB. The PayPal Debit gives me more (higher groceries limit monthly, and dining with 1% debit brings it up to the same 6% on the BCP for no fee.)
Keeping an eye out for new AmEx products, as I fully expect some after they closed apps for 3 of them last year, and I'm curious what I may be able to product change my ED to in the future.
Hope to get off the wait-list for the Robinhood Gold card.
Glare at my Macy's AmEx and tell them their time will come.
Keep an eye on RedStone to see if they ever ditch the geo-fence they added the day I was approved as member 😜 If not, most likely close out that account... I have a diff 5% Savings that is uncapped, so I get nothing from them.
Keep an eye out for a 5% dining card with no FTF since RedStone failed me there.
Possibly downsize some of P2's cards, now that they have the Smartly at 4%.
Keep an eye out for other shiny new things, as I only have one app planned, so my reports should be fairly clean and eligible.
Hmm. I totally forgot that I was thinking about starting to work towards lifetime statuses with Marriott, and grab the AmEx Biz + Brilliant for myself this year. I have a couple years of Gold under my belt, but no Elite Nights. P2 is getting close to Lifetime Platinum, so was considering working on that for me especially once he has hit the ten years. I'm fairly sure that Lifetime Status is linked to P2's lifetime only 😜 Would repeat what we have done for P2, and down the road aim for the Ritz for myself.

For my current cards:
I will keep my Quicksilver and Discover for now, as they are my oldest cards at 17 and 12 years. Will rethink that after the merge is finalized and more info comes out.
I plan to close my Home Depot card at some point this year, but might wait until December when is over 2 years from opening.
After my newest cashRewards from NFCU is over a year old I plan on applying for a new NFCU card and asking to merge the CL from it to the new card.
So close 2 cards and open 1.
My other goals is just CLI's and maybe finally get a card to over 30k limit or 100k total CLI even having one less card.

Finally gave up on Capital One giving me a CLI. After the lasts one being $250 almost 5 years ago.
Went ahead and closed the card, as I don't really use it. Only kept it for card age, and the longer I kept it, it would make it harder to decide to finally close it to have one less card to manage.

I'm doing the same thing in 2025 that I did the last 8 months of 2024... absolutely nothing.
The urge to apply for cards is gone. I am more interested in seeing what happens when I pay off the debt that I have AND have no inquiries on my reports.
If I apply for a card with no inquiries on my report will I still get a "too many inquiries in the last 12 months" denial?
So far with my 10 months of gardening I've seen here at myFICO my "recent account" status go from poor to fair... so that's progress.

I got some CLI's last month, so went ahead and closed my Home Depot store card. Only lost 4k from my TCL.

2025 will be spent paying off old credit debt/collections and managing a $300 Credit One VISA to help improve credit along with a car loan.
I have a bankruptcy being removed off credit around Feb 2027, will likely just chill until that's removed. Maybe start looking at prime cards toward the end of '25/beginning of '26. Targeting Citi Double Cash (General, Non-category spending) and Apple Card (Apple Purchases, select 3% merchants, daily Apple cash) since they seem to be forgiving of rebuilders generally. After the BK is removed, try for AMEX BCP and/or Chase Freedom Flex. Once I have one or two of those under my belt, get rid of the Credit One card, which I otherwise have no complaints with, and has served me well during the rebuild.
Ultimate goal is no more than three or four cards, all Cashback (don't do enough traveling to make any travel cards worth it) and calling it good.
Adding $30,000+ in credit card was not on my strategy
I'm currently at 5/24. I already got the United Explorer and the Citi Custom Cash last January, those are included in the 5/24 count. I will drop to 4/24 in August. I am going to apply for the Red Aviator for the SUB and because it will be moving to Citi (it will be PCd to another Custom Cash). I am going to apply for the IHG Business Premier right after, before the Red Aviator posts its first statement. That is about it for the rest of this year. Next time I will be below 5/24 after those apps will be May 2026 and I currently plan to apply for the Marriott Boundless at that time, to early to make that a definite decision.

Yeah, it is the apple wallet.
I'm new to the Credit Card game myself and currently have these cards:
In this upcoming year, I'm going to look to expand my relationship with other banks. I'm thinking about getting a Capital One Savor card since I've heard Capital One cards are more difficult to get the later you are in your journey. I would also like to start a relationship with AMEX, but am dissapointed that they have discontinued the AMEX Everyday card that earns MR points. I will wait and see this year what refreshes they do and if they relaunch the card. I'm also keeping an eye on the CFU, looking for a sign-up bonus that has a 5% category or a double 1.5% for the first year.
