Hey All,
I'm wondering if someone here could provide some insight.
I got my AAA Travel Advantage 2 months ago and have made a few transactions on it. I log into the app a few times a week and check the rewards. My rewards aren't high by any means but there is a few dollars.
Howevever, I logged into the app this morning and it said there is a tech issue and can't show my rewards. Then it said to log into the site. I logged into the site and it said I had $0 rewards.
so I called customer service and explained the situation. He verbally confirmed that I do have rewards and that it wasn't showing because I didn't currently havave a balance. I called him out and told him that I never have a balance because I pay as soon as something posts and I've seen rewards before.
He (infuriatingly) didn't offer to help fix the issue but rather redeem the rewards that I have. I told him no, I want the issue fixed so I can see them when I log into from there he had me take a screenshot and send a secure message while logged in. I took the screenshot and sent the message and hung up with him.
THEN I just checked my Gmail and I got an email from AAA Travel Advantage that I tried to send a secure message but that they were emailing me to let me know I didn't go through due to a technical issue.
im too frustrated to call them back now and don't know what is going on.
one thing that may be important is that I used it on four separate purchases that I made on Amazon last night in order to hit my bonus. I made them separately because that's just had my ADHD brain works when I shop (online or in person).
Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Comenity Bank. This is why a lot of people here won't get their cards.

I knew they don't have a good reputation but the rewards are so good and I really like AAA. Until now I inconsidered this card more powerful than my AMEX Gold, BCP, and Savor. It was only second to my Chase Prime Visa. So much so I planned on downgrading my BCP next year and product changing to the Daily Advantage. I honestly thought that issues people faced were payment related and since I pay immediately I thought I'd have no issues. This is so disappointing.
It is not a glitch but rather the implementation that Comenity has chosen to offer - and one I dislike as well. One of the reasons their card of mine is likely going get cancelled at the 1 year mark is that I have decided their option for redeeming cash back doesn't work well enough for me to continue with them. They offer cash back as a statement credit - if and only when you have a balance due on your statement. I tend to pay all my cards when I get paid (every two weeks). As a result, I found I often had a statement balance of less than my cash back amount. I got tired of chasing how much to pay off so that I could redeem my cash back. In the end I found other cards that, although don't quite offer the 5% on groceries I was getting with AAA, are close enough for me to not miss it. Not that the US Bank Altitude Reserve is any kind of gem with their Real Time Rewards hoops, but I am doing that either way so just put my spend there.
The options for how a card allows cash back redemption is something I feel gets missed in most of the discussion on cards. One of the best for me has been Citi Custom Cash. I can redeem any amount to where I want it (external bank account, etc.) when I have a rewards balance. That is one reason I am likely to keep that card - high cash back but also easy/flexible redeption.
When was this implemented? I've seen my cash rewards in the app as recently as last week and I had a zero balance.
I have other gas cards than my AAA Travel Advantage like BCP and Savor but those are only 3%. I'll see how this goes.
Also Citi laughs me off the phone. No idea why. In general I'm able to get approved for great cards. Eg Amex Gold, BCP, Chase Prime Visa, Savor, etc and have a Fico score of 715-720. They just won't pre approve me for anything. lol neither will Wells Fargo. In terms of Wells Fargo I'd say it's quite insulting and audacious 😂

I have seen it before but haven't used the card for more than 3 months so not sure really. Main point is it is not the best set up. Worth it for some for sure for the 5%, but not seeing it for me.
Odd on Citi (and WF). Too bad you can't get in with them.

I was at Golden Corral once and the grill guy asked the customer how he likes his steak and he answered 'On my plate'. I'm the same way with cash back. As long as it is true cash back at a full one cent per point, if the issuer asked me how I'd like my cash back, I'd say 'Yes, please'.

Citi and WF also do tend to have a low threshold for HPs on your CR. For me they usually pull EQ, but depending on your state that may vary.
FYI my pending charges have posted and I purposely haven't paid them to see what happens. My rewards still don't show in the app. I think there is something else going on unless I'm misunderstanding what you are saying.
You can only redeem rewards if you have a "statement balance" from the prior month. If you PIF before statement close you're unable to redeem rewards the following month even when you owe a current balance. So if I have $20 in rewards I generally have to pay $20 less than the full balance and let a $20 balance report. It's a bit of an annoyance and the fact their new app looks like it was designed 30 years ago I'll probably end up closing the card since it's too much of a hassle to redeem.
