This actually, literally, makes me want to cry. I put a picture of my dog on this card years ago, and she died young about a year and a half ago. It was incredibly difficult, way worse than losing my old dogs that lived a full life. If I had to close EVERY other card, this is the one I would leave open. Plus, just on a practical level, I spend a lot at pet stores and vet clinics, and occasionally through the AKC. I was so afraid this would happen when they removed the CLI button, but they gave me an automatic increase shortly after that.
Sorry to hear that, @Hex, but don't give it up yet. The message just says they aren't taking new applications. And that existing cardholders will be contacted about how this change affects their account. There is the possibility they will either keep the card as-is and grandfather you in, or that the card will be retained with some changes. So maybe there is hope!
Well well, glad I nixed mine last year. Wonder if AKC will issue cards themselves has been some rumor of that.

It'd be interesting if that's the case if they decide to restart the CC program with another lender 🤷♂️
This one, though, may end up like the dodo bird, just like Comenity ended the partnership with True Value not long ago (similar message posted on their landing/log in page).
IIRC, it was a messy and confusing transition for some folks who had the Wayfair card (painful experiences for some) since Comenity retained and converted only a portion of accountholders to their MC, a bunch of accounts were closed (with no options), and then another set went to Citi Retail. So, it'll be interesting how this one pans out.
This is terrible - I just got this card last summer
I feel like so many cards I have recently got have closed - HOME, Wayfair, now this. Boooo.
Interesting I just saw this and have said card and find alot of use for it... stinks it is going away. Although how the language is wordded it will either be PC'ed or possibly going to another lender as nothing like their typical card will no longer usable after X date. I will be awaiting communication from them based on when that comes will either close myself or if happy with new lender I might choose to opt to keep it or if they PC it into a 2% card or whatever I will keep it... Have yet to get any information myself on this yes.
Oh wow I wonder if AKC will get a new partner. Though I don't know what the plan is for this card they may give you a Comenity Card Mastercard like they did to us Wayfair customers.

@Anonymous - I actually wondered the same thing when the CLI button was gone.
My card has my two rescue idiots the day I brought #2 home. It's my favorite picture of them.
And yes, after groceries, vet/pet is my next biggest spend - if I had to bring myself down to three cards, this would definitely be one of them.
I totally forgot - I actually came to this thread to report that I am getting something from Comenity in the mail today.
It should be interesting to see if they're just going to close it or PC it. Either way, I guess after the cut off date, it's off to the sock box.
