I have been reading this forum for awhile now and have found everything beneficial as far as which cards to apply for. My question is I have seen on the forum that 25k and 35k as basically the cut off for AMEX asking for 4506 forum. I have a starting line of 10k on a BCP card (not my highest limit) that is 65 days old and was thinking of asking for 30k but didn't know if I should push it. Just wanted to see what experiences people have had with asking for 30k and above with American Express.
I would not worry about it and request the full $30k

Welcome to the forum. There have been a few posts on the 'so-called' cut off before a 4506T is requested. Whether it be a $1 initial CL to a $25k CL its a YMMV. If you try and get the message you may choose to comply or cancel the CL request.
+1
I don't think it's anything to worry about.. They already have your address, soc sec #, know where you work, if they ever ask me I would just send it in.. Some one can correct me but I think once they request this, you will never get a CLI from them again even if its for 50 cents unless you submit it..

true but they don't have your deductions, some people may habve a huge gross income but there taxable income is actually very little (I am not one of those people by the way)
There is no $25K or $35K hard limit. It's going to depend on your overall credit profile, your history with Amex, your income, etc. Of course, as you go higher, the risk increases. I had posted on another thread that I have an individual card above $25K CL and another personal card at $13.5K. I have not been asked for any tax returns. I just recently was approved for another personal card, but I don't know the limit on that card yet. In any event, there is no $25K individual threshhold or $35K combined threshhold.
For quite a while, there was a decent amount of anecdotal evidence that $25K and below was releatively safe, and that anything above that, while not definite, carried a risk of being asked for income verification. But as mentioned above, a recent thread reports that a request of $22.5K triggered a 4506T request. So it appears that $25K is not a hard limit below which everything is safe, just as it never was a hard limit above which everything triggered a request.
All that said, based on most reports that I have seen, if I were concerned about them asking for a 4506T, I would probably stick with requesting no more than $25K. If you are comfortable providing them with the 4506T or are comfortable with canceling the CLI request in the event they ask, go for the whole $30K.
Thanks for all the advice, I've only had a history with AMEX for 3 months so not that long of a history there. As far as my income I stated what I was making this year. I really don't mind at all showing them a 4506. Just the fact that I stated 10-15% more then what my 4506 will say from last year since I based it off what I will make this year. I'm just going to call tonight and ask for the full 30k and see what they say.
