Have been with Amex sine 2001 (Blue) and just asked for an APR reduction from 14.49% CSR was nice but stated there were no APR offers for me, asked if I wanted to submit request, so I agreed. Request was denied and was told I have to use card more to "maybe" get an APR reduction. All my FICO scores are 800+, including the score Amex offers, so I am surprised they didn't approve a reduction (CL $20k). I've seen others have significant reductions on their APR, but no recent examples that I can find. Has anyone tried this recently? If this is not the correct forum, please move. Thank you.
AMEX Blue on the site has a low APR rate of 15.49%. So you are already a full 1% under the current rates (grandfathered in?).

You can always get below published limit with many lenders. My Amex Hhonors is 5.x+Prime... I know others with lower on Amex cards.. You don't know if you don't ask and if you use the card alot you are likely to get one each month down to a certain point
@OP. Get on chat through Amex website and ask if they can lower your APR, you might just be surpised what they will do for you.

I was under the impression you could go below posted percentages too. Do you think it will be seen negatively by Amex if I try chat, even though I was already denied via phone this afternoon? I don't want to get on their naughyt list ![]()
Asking on chat will be your best bet...... My BCE apr is 6.74%. And I also have simply cash.
That I opened nov 2015 @ 17.49%. It's on 0% intro until 8/2016 and they have lower that apr to 13.49%.
all done by chat for both cards. Give chat a try and let us know how it goes .

It's never just a mater of score alone with any creditor. It has been a while since I last requested an APR reduction from them but I wasn't successful last time (and my EX FICO is above 800 as well).

No,it doesn't hurt to ask, but if you didn't qualify why do you think you will now?
