Yeah I never got a CLI on my previous $1k Delta Amex card because I didn't use it all that much beyond the initial SUB spend. I asked multiple times and always denied. That account was closed in 2017 prior to filing CH 13 and Amex just gave me the exact same card last month... only with a $10k limit.
Already ran $2k thru the card to get the 75k bonus miles... and now am working towards the $10k spend for the flight credit. The card is somewhat more useful now with 2x miles at restaurants and groceries but for me the biggest perk is the $10k limit. It's basically twice what I have on any other card and if this is Amex's way of getting me to put their card #1 on my list they've done a good job... because it is.
They're gonna love me now... lots of spend and PIF each month. Not gonna make multiple monthly payments... I don't see the point and agree with others in this thread who do the same. I'm anticipating $3k or so monthly spend... anyone have any idea if they'd ever give me CLI with low UTI across other cards in my profile?
Honestly I'm gonna wait a minimum of 120 days before even making an attempt (I've seen 60-90 being common but have also seen reports of up to 180?) but with $3k monthly usage on a $10k card can I expect a CLI?
Probably not eh?
LOL either way it's all good... they've already given me a 10x CLI along with a free flights worth of bonus miles... it just took 5+ years and 2 accounts to get there.
Moral of the story... don't burn Amex in a BK. Lots of useful info in this thread! Thanks all!

@learningcredit54 wrote:I too was wondering what the best method is. I received a BLUE CASH PREFERRED a few weeks back with a 1k limit. I put around 600 first month a PIF before statement and this second cycle planning on doing the same. This way I think I have better odds at doing a 3x CLI on day 61 of the card.
Temper expectations as far as even qualifying to ask for a CLI at 61 days. I got the same card, same limit, back in December, and had to wait nearly 6 months before even being *allowed* to ask for a CLI. It *was* granted, though, thankfully. But I didn't PIF. I've been leaving some balances on it since it's at 0% until Dec of this year.
Great dp, thanks.
Did you get 3x limit when they did grant the CLI?
Yes
No, I only requested what I thought I would get approved for. I opened the card in 2016.
@OmarGB9you're right - 61 days might be a bit premature from my end. i guess its just wishful thinking. I noted that I dont even have the option to ask for the CLI on my personal card but I do see the option for my business card which has been open for 2 weeks less. Odd.
Either way I will without a doubt keep the forum upto date. 61 days on the personal will be July 8th so lets see how this post ages.
I started with a Hilton Amex Card in 2019 with a $2,000 CL. After 180 days I asked for 3x and they did a 2x. Then another 180 I did get a 3x. Then I doubled that to $24,000 another 180 days later. I also Product Changed to the top Hilton card Aspire. During that time though I got the AMEX platinum card; I have only ever checked spending power with $50,000 and it was approved. I also got the Marriott Brilliant Bonvoy with a starting CL of $20,000. That one was just approved for a CLI of 2x to $40,000. I also have a Blue Cash Preferred that was an initial CL of $8,000. I've had that one a year and haven't bothered asking for a CLI yet.
In 2021 I put $155,000 on my Amex cards and Paid In Full every month before statements. I often pay on a card 5-6 times a month. So that behavior must not bother them.
So my AMEX journey over the last 3 years went from $2,000 to Credit limits across 3 cards of $72,000 plus the Platinum card which as I said earlier was approved for $50,000 when I checked spending power.
I love my AMEX cards and use the crap out of them. But I also travel for a living. I stay in Hotels over 200 nights a year and fly over 200 segments a year on American Airlines. I have the Citi World Elite American Airlines Master Card for that.
I also put a lot on Chase cards.
Good luck, I love AMEX, they have been very good to me.

Don't get your hopes up to high on a CLI at 61 days. A lot of people lately (including me) didn't get it. Tried again at 90 and still didn't get it. I tried at 5 months and got it then though. This being said, I would try it at 61 days, you never know. FYI, seach the board for the CLI link for AMEX. I think it's been removed from their site but link in one of the posts was still active several months ago.
I put about $500-$800 a month on my BCP. I got my card in Dec 20 with a $1k limit and got my first increase in Dec 21 for $3k. I asked again in March for 3x the limit and was approved for $9k and the same for June and was approved for $25k. I was scared to ask for over $25k😂. I know the consensus is every 181 days but it was every 92/93(took an extra few days to be safe) for me. Hopes this helps.

Interesting you were able to ask and get approved for a CLI after only 90ish days.
Yes but after having my card for a year. Three straight increases on Dec, Mar, and June. I went from 1k to 25k.
Sooo just to update on forum I have passed my 61 days with my Personal Amex Blue Cash Preferred BUT the CLI is currently not an option for me. I decided to try my luck on the Amex Blue Business which although opened just shy of 61 days has the CLI option. However upon pulling the trigger eas denied. I may try and reach out to see the real reason as the message below makes no sense. All my cards are reporting 0.00 (all paid in full)
