So I've had my Delta Gold AMEX for about 14-15 months now. It's been $1,000 the entire time and WON'T GROW! They keep asking me to upgrade the last couple months to the $550 per year Black Delta AMEX. Should I? Might that be a stepping stone? The Boeing 77 Black Delta AMEX is a GORGEOUS card indeed! Would it be $550 per card? If I have a couple of authorized users on my account, would that be an extra $1,100 per year? My credit score has fallen to about a 600. Not due to any negativity, but rather due to opening new auto loans and things of that nature. So maybe that is also coming into play? Does anyone have a recommendation of how high my credit score would need to be, before I can upgrade my limit? But as I said, I have absolutely no derogatories. Perfect payments. But I just took on a new auto loan, I actually have two open auto loans simultaneously. Plus like four or five new credit cards in the last year. About two in the last six months.
Thank you all!
@User1109519 600 is a really score to have 0 derog's on your credit report. What is your revolving utilization looking like? How about your Average Age of Accounts? I mean, clearly the score is likely the issue with Amex not letting you grow, so I definately would put some energy into understanding why your score is so low. I am skeptical that a couple auto loans and some new accounts are the only drivers here. There is a wealth of knowledge and experience on this forum, so if you can share some more data points from your reports, I am sure folks can help you understand why your score is low and give some advice on how to increase it.
What is your utilization across your cards.
Sorry but 600 is far too low to have zero negatives and only some new accounts. Something else is going on here. Have you pulled your full reports from annualcreditreport.com? There may be some inaccurate derogatory information you're unaware of that is keeping your scores down, which in turn is keeping you from getting a CLI.
@User1109519 I would sit tight. You already have several new accounts, and multiple car loans. Also your credit score is low. I would sit tight, not apply for anything new, pay down balances, and let your accounts age.
Yeah something's not right here. I opened a $50k+ auto loan and my score didn't move.
I would definitely look at your reports.
Here's my profile. I'm not sure why it's so low. Always has been. I zeroed out 99% of my revolving debts a couple months ago and barely hit 660. 🤷🏻♂️ Maybe I'm too new?

Upgrading to the Delta Reserve won't in itself increase your limit. As you have had the card for over a year, there are no Credit CARD Act regulations requiring a certain fees-to-limit ratio. Also, the upgrade offers are rarely anywhere in the ballpark as a new card bonus. The Delta Reserve currently has a 100,000 SkyMiles Welcome Offer, which is valued at a minimum of $1200 even for non-sale economy tickets. Additional users are $175 each on the Delta Reserve, but really the only perks they get are SkyClub, Centurion Lounge, and Escape Lounge access when flying Delta or its partners. Not even the free first bag or priority boarding they'd get with the sub-$100 Delta Gold card is extended to them (unless flying on the same PNR as you, the primary cardholder).
The scores you posted are VantageScore 3.0 scores. On clean credit histories, they can be much lower than FICO 8 scores (such as the Experian FICO 8 that Amex uses to manage your account) when you have a ton of new credit as you seem to have. You can get your actual Experian FICO 8 score by logging into your Amex account and navigating to Account Services (up top), Profile (on the left), and View FICO Score (bottom). From what you have stated, your FICO 8 scores are probably a bit better but with all of the aggressive credit-seeking, that can give most lenders pause on extending additional credit. You also appear to be over your credit limit on the Amex card?
So a few things going on here:
First, you're very aggressively seeking credit. You need to cool it.
Secondly, you're referencing Vantage scores from CK, which are highly volatile and can be very different from true FICO scores.
Thirdly, you seem to have a lot of maxed or near-maxed accounts, including an over limit Amex. Pay all of these down to zero and you should see some nice gains.
