New Hilton card owner here. I currently get 7x per dollar when used at Hilton properties. I noticed when looking at room rates, there's a 2x points rate option. I'm wondering if I use the card with that rate, will I get 14x per dollar in points? Or would I get two sets of points awarded, 7x then 2x?
I know it's a long shot but thought I'd ask. I love a good hack. Lol!
Thanks in advance.
When you book a stay at a hotel, or buy a flight on an airline, that purchase gets points or miles in the loyalty program, regardless how you send cash to the hotel or airline. Those are the points which get the 2x promo rate.
When you use the AMEX Hilton card to pay for the stay, that is the 7 points you get on the card. So sadly, no, those 7 are not doubled. But the points directly with Hilton are boosted by your Silver or Gold status from the various Hilton cards available.
Thanks for the confirmation!!
To add to what was said above, when you pay for Hilton Hotel stays using the Amex Hilton Honors card, you functionally get 19x points per dollar per stay:
*10x points for being a Hilton Honors Rewards member
*2x points (20% bonus) for being a Hilton Honors Rewards Silver member (Silver status automatically granted to Amex Hilton Honors card holders)
*7x points for using the Amex Hilton Honors card at Hilton Hotels
The points values are enhanced further if you have an annual fee Amex Hilton card (Hilton Honors Surpass or Hilton Honors Aspire card). For the Amex HH Surpass, you functionally receive 30x points per dollar per stay (10x points HH member + 8x points/80% bonus as HH Gold member + 12x points for using HH Surpass card). The Hilton Honors Aspire has a 34x points per dollar per stay rate.
That is the answer that I was hoping for!!! Thanks!!
