About 2 years ago I closed my business and "tried" to cancel my corporate AMEX card. Although at three time they said they closed it... They never did. A few months later I received an invoice for $75.00 for the annual fee. Long story short, they never closed it and still wanted the annual fee. I got them to once again "close" the account.
Well.... 1 year later and what shows up? An AMEX statement with a $75.00 annual fee. I went online and whattaya know? It's still open> Now I will have to go through this whole mess again. This time, I think I might send them a statement for $75.00 for my time.
Do you think I have any recourse? Do you think there is a reason that they are keeping this account open? Does it make their books look better? How is this affecting my credit if at all?
Thanks
I think you should call and , yet again, tell them you would like to close the account and ASK FOR THE ADDRESS to do it by mail. (insist you need to do it for your records, you do)
Upon getting the address, send a certified letter (request for response) explaining just what you have here.
Don't wait a year to check the status, (that is your fault) do it until you see a response and if not God help you.
At any rate, once you have done this you are protected from any future charges or AA.
We live in a paperless world, but don't ever forget, if you really want something done , the hard copy route is almost always the best. People working phones are hardly ever happy or dependable. (rare exceptions)
Good luck,
