My first experience with AMEX Offers: Last month, I was approved for the Platinum card and began noting the various AMEX Offers that come with that card as well as other AMEX cards.
I had already booked the Homewood Suites for the Labor Day weekend when I noticed an AMEX Offer for $50 back if I spend $250 at Homewood Suites. I had booked the stay and checked in using my AMEX Hilton Ascend card as usual to get the Hilton HHonors points. But the front desk was able to switch my room charge to the Platinum card. I figured 10 percent off on my bill of about $500 was worth more than the 12X HHonors points I would have earned if I'd left the charge on my Ascend card.
As soon as the pending charge hit my Platinum card, I received an Email notifying me that I'd redeemed my AMEX Offer. That's pretty good service. It really seems worth monitoring the AMEX Offers that go with our cards. You never know when you might have the opportunity to use one!
I agree! I added a few offers to my Platinum in the last week and totally forgot what they were until I paid a bill today, and within 2 minutes received an Amex email confirming I redeemed an offer. I'm impressed.. as you said it pays to monitor the offers each week on our cards.
I’ve saved around $430 so far in the past year due to Amex Offers. This is spread across 4 cards and using certain offers twice on my AU cards. But it can certainly save you some money
