Hello,
I am new to these forums and was wondering whether or not I would have a shot in applying for the AMEX PRG card.
These are some statistics regarding my score:
Experian: 740
Income: $118k
- I have been an AMEX member for almost two years now, never had made a late payment -- however I have 7 inquiries listed on Experian - 3 being for the same apartment application (hassle finding solid roommates to live with). Does AMEX consider length of membership in applications? The seven inquiries have been spread out over two years, only from the past one.
Thanks!
Welcome to the forums. In credit there's no such thing as a "sure thing," but if you already have an Amex card in your name (not authorized user) I would be shocked if you weren't approved. The low-end for underwriting on the charge cards is usually around the mid-600s, with some people being approved with low 600s. Amex usually doesn't perform hard pulls on existing personal cardholders applying for new personal cards, so there wouldn't be much to lose by asking. Just make sure you're getting the best welcome offer available to you, and be sure to hit the required spend in time.
Thank you K-In-Boston!

I concur. I've had the Amex delta card for about 6+ years and recently applied for the Amex Platinum card. I got an automatic approval without a hard credit pull. With your standing with Amex you should be fine.

Amex isn't inquiry sensitive so you are good to go there. With your stats you should be an automatic approval. If you want to be sure just log in and click apply on the card. It will then tell you whether you are pre-approved. Just make sure you are signing up for the 50k offer.
Thank you everyone for the replies! I have thought about getting the Platinum AMEX card and will have to weigh my options! I feel more confident now that I will be accepted and will keep these forums updated. Thank you!
If you haven't already applied and received an approval - Go ahead, you will be approved.
