AMEX Question

On amex's free monitoring site under offers...is that a legit offer or just marketing? I show zip on their prequal page but on the site it shows blue cash everyday?

Re: AMEX Question

The true AMEX prequal is to go to the card list while logged into your account, pick the card you want and hit apply. If it says "you're preapproved," it's a solid offer. If it says "expand your membership," it's not.

Re: AMEX Question

No this is their free "My Credit Guide" site. I have not been invited into the Amex family yet. I still live in sub-prime land but I remain ever hopeful!

Re: AMEX Question

Ahhh, I thought you had an Amex. My bad, sorry.

In that case, what are your scores like?

Re: AMEX Question

644 Ex, 641 TU and EQ who knows. It's always lower. I don't really want to apply for anything but I REALLY want to be invited!! 😂 Ridiculous, I know....

Re: AMEX Question

Not ridiculous. I totally get it. It's nice to be wanted. Smiley Happy

I got my first AMEX prequal 3/2018 when my EX was 690 for the BCE for reference. I've heard 670 is the lower threshold for a core revolver where you can start expecting prequals but they have been known to approve some of them a bit lower.

Re: AMEX Question

Cool. Shouldn't be long then. Hopefully I've put myself on their radar by joining their free site. I guess we will see.

Re: AMEX Question

Yeah you're definitely not far from a revolver as long as the rest of your profile looks good to AMEX. Obviously score isn't everything.
