@Revelate wrote:Think the CSR was wrong there too; even when the Zync was in full swing we had people that went Green (Gold / whatever) -> Zync and were able to PC back again.
It was the accounts which started as Zync and ended as Zync originally at least anecdotally.
Seriously though bud, what are you doing with that hardlimit card now, just open tradeline farming? There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of point to that $25 AF for a duplicate card
. Supposedly we'll be able to replace them ad naseum, and Amex does have some one-off policies on future cards with a limited one; I'd not take the chance personally of triggering something silly on a future card approval or CLI.
Yeah........I do recall that some people reported being successful in converting from Zync to other Charge Cards, if I recall it was a YMMV situation.....
I'm planning on leaving the $200 Zync open for now, it's free ( with the annual $25 Small Biz Credit ), it is backdated to '95, and hey, it's become a classic
Perhaps if AMEX decides to let me open up a revolver card in the future then I'll consider shutting it down. As far as I can tell AMEX isn't holding it against me, at least their denial letters haven't explicitly mentioned that having a hard limit card is a problem.

If you like the zync with another charge card do you get the benefits of the other charge card when you use the Zync? Or is it just the point conversion?
I think it's just the MRE --> MR point conversion.

Yes, MR points earned are always automatically categorized at your highest grade. For example, if you had a Plat bus or personal, all MR points earned (from any MR card) will automatically be MR First.
Many Plat cardmembers who had the card for benefits only--not to spend--had gotten the Zync for pesonal spending to earn extra MR points. The fee was low, and most of the packs paid for themselves. This Zync was one of "best" deals Amex had when combined and used optimally. So much so, it completely cannibalized their Green and standard Gold. People would just get the Zync for the bonus and extra points, then upgrade to another full MR card with bonus when ready to redeem for travel.
I suspect this is the major reason they discontinued the Zync.
Since I have the Zync with Restaurant, connect and the free packs (didnt get go or home improvement ) then once I get Plat or other charge card, I should still use it for my personal spend in these items and then use new charge card for travel when I book through AMEX site and the rest of the time use the zync card?

Yes, if that's what you're inclined to do.
The Plat only earns a single MR point per spend. In this case, the Zync would earn more MR points in it's specialized categories up to $5K. Once you hit $5K, then stop.

I really want to app for that 100k bonus.
Link is gone, but keep an eye out for it. What most people don't realize is that without the signing bonus, the MR program requires a large amount of spending to make it really worth it.
You need at least 50K - 60K MR points to redeem anything of significant value. Without a sign up bonus, that's $50K -$60K of spending before you start to benefit after paying the annual fee.

I thought that the bonus wasn't available if you have held any other charge card within the last 90 days ~ is that correct or did I misread ??

It's hit and miss. Some have gotten the bonus, while others have not.
