You make a good point. If I wasn't clear I meant the closing date not the due date. The closing date floats every month. I think the due date is steady though I'm not positive. I actually care more about my closing date than my due date and that's why it bugs me sometimes that it floats all over the end of the month. Now it's floated to mid month lol. I like to make payments before my statement closes sometimes so I don't have $5,000 reporting. Amex can make that a bit difficult with floating dates.
Some mention astutely that it may be because it's February. However, all my other cards are sticking to their standard dates except for AMEX. Not to mention AMEX does this every month but this month was exceptionally bad which lends credence that it may have been even more erratic because it's February.
Again, not a huge deal. Love AMEX and definitely first world problems but come on, AMEX, consistency is good!!
Like I said earlier, it's because AmEx wants exactly 25 days between closing and due dates and their due dates are static. Ask AmEx to set your due date to the 26th, 27th, or 28th, and your statement closing date will always be the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, depending on the due date you chose. My statement closing date for March has actually been shifted by a number of lenders due to the short month.
I know you have to login and look, but it can't only be my account that states the closing date.
It's an extra step, but it's not like there's any mystery behind what the date will be for any given month.
