I travel often for business. Since it would be a hassle to keep up with in my case, I don't ever use the travel notifications with my cards even though I know any of them could be denied for suspicion of fraud. With this new card being from a small credit union, I was especially concerned that I might have issues with travel use. I decided to give it a test run.
In the past ten days since I got the card, I've used it successfully in five different states in completely different corners of the country, and all charges were accepted without having to provide travel notifications. I was relieved to see that it would not be an issue! I just wanted to pass this info along to anyone who wondered.
I also continue to see my "pending" charges show up promptly in my "AOD Card Controls" app as soon as I use the card. Overall I've been pleased with use of the card and management of charges!
The AOD Card Controls app has a "Travel Notifications" button if anyone cares to use it. This might be more important if you use the card long-term in a limited geographic area and suddenly change patterns by traveling.
I made a road trip from my bedroom to my kitchen and back today using 3% wishful thinking. I only accept (toilet) paper statements though
This is good to know!
Did you actually "drive" or did you fly? I ask this because I've had card issues when swiping in gas pumps going from CA to NY and back. (This was mostly with Citi though). By the time the chaos in the world dies down, I'll probably be ready to app for AOD and stress test them with a vacation for 7
Great information/knowledge from @Aim_High as per usual!
Lol.

Because of this place, I've been really tempted to go for this 3% card and I really don't need it. So I'm avoiding all threads that read, "AOD..." haha

Lol i fell victim too , got denied but for the MF Effect, had to try. Usually my denials hurt but once the sting wears off, i realize they were for my own good and im better off. Just thinking about what Wanda must have been thinking when trying to calculate my income off my hourly wage. Im sure im legend there....." Ah Lord have mercy Chil', this poor gringo tryin' to get our card on his income and to boot from PR!"🤣

I flew. I thought it was a pretty good test because the locations were widely apart over a short period of time. None were international on these trips though.
I've never tried swiping at a gas pump since I usually get 4% to 5% back usually on my Costco Visa (and/or) Discover IT // Chase Freedom rotating categories. (Q1: Freedom. Q2: Discover). Maybe it's because I travel so often that my lenders all expect it but I can't remember the last time I've ever had a card denied due to location! (And I never pre-notify about travel.)

Oh come on, you know you want it @imaximous! Lol
Do you already have a card that pays 3% uncategorized + uncapped and doesn't require relationship or mobile payment? It's a sweet deal and IMO, we all have enough need for uncategorized spend that this kind of card is helpful over time. There's a reason why it's all over My Fico!
