On the AU's CR, does it say when they were added as an AU on that account?
I was added as an AU on an AMEX in January, 2012. It shows on my credit report as a new line of credit, opened 1/12.
Were you given a card or any other access?
So they probably don't report to CRAs. You can call Citi and ask if they do.
So can anyone answer my question??

SwiftTone, I just checked my daughter's credit report so as to answer your question. The credit card account that I added her to as an authorized user is showing on her report for the entire age of the account not for the date that I added her as an AU on that account. I don't see any notation on the credit report for the date that I added her as an authorized user.
Edited to add: Companies might handle AU accounts differently. This credit card is a Barclay's account. Even though she received a card, she does not have access to the account online but the great part is I can track her spending almost instantly!

I did receive a card, and I have my own online account access. I was given my own account number (the last 2-3 digits of the card are different from the original card), that I activated and then set-up my my online account. The overall balance/available credit is listed when I log on (from both cards), but it will only show my activity - it does not show the activity of the original card member. Payment for my charges comes from my bank account, etc.

Ah, thank you very much for answering my question. I've been trying to find an answer for a while.
Reviving this old thread.
My Visa card with PNC asks for a SSN when adding an AU but I've been told that they don't report the AU's info to the credit agencies but do these people that answer the phones really know?????

@Anonymous wrote:I understand that a while back one could raise their credit score by being added as an autorized user of the credit card owner had a high credit score. I've read old posts around that this practice no long works or was to be stopped from happening soon. The later may have took place by now.
I added my DH as an AU on my Discover... gave him 13 yrs of spotless history for free and raised his score by 100 pts. He didn't borrow my score, he just borrowed my history on that accountSo on his CR, does it say when he was added as a AU? I'm just wondering if creditors can tell if he was added as a AU when the account opened, or much later.
On his Credit Report, it states that the account was opened in 1999, and the payment history and balance shows up... It made his score jump like crazy! From the looks of it, you can't tell he was only added recently...
