Thanks for clearing that up and I guess some people just do not understand online etiquette. I am happy we got this resolved just guys understand you all have probably been where we are and understand our frustrations so be patient with us. It's not always what you say but how you say it. We are learning from you all. And I do apologize for any inapproriate language I used or suggested butttttt. I still think they suck after experiencing what I have been reading about for the longest but I get it. Now if they choose to give me something I am surely gone take it. You all have a nice day.

I know I have. Twice. Oh, and Cap One doesn't suck. Smiley Happy

Re: Aggravated with Capital One

If cap1 isn't willing to dance, find a new partner. Beating your head into a wall of triple hard pulls certainly is not helping anything. 6 months or a year seems an eternity when you are watching those scores inch up, but taking a year to let the file mature goes a long way with some lenders. Im a year into my rebuild and my scores are pretty nice now. There are prequals sittin all over the place. But meh. I don't need the credit. Better to wait it out a bit and get best possible terms. Op you have enough cards to max your

Score. Let it grow a bit, use the credit you have and come up with a plan. Better to decide what you really want and need for credit, apply for that when appropriate than to shoot out apps for every cap1 card.  You have 2 cards with them that havent grown, why would you want 2 more?

Okay, you can dislike Cap One, and you can say that you should have been approved for whatever card because....

But, the fact remains that currently your scores say that you are a high risk...

Each lender looks at YOUR credit and makes a determination based upon what they see.  I have been a member of this forum just short of 2 months.  My starting scores are in my sig.  Chase turned me down for the Freedom card...BoA (who I have been banking with for 15 years) turned down my request to unsecure my card..Barclay no join... Now I have all.  It is your responsibility to make the changes.   I am amazed at how personal members take decisions by lenders?  I assure you, if you cleaned up baddies on your report and raised your score just 55 points, you might have seen a different result.

That being said, I do agree that scores and profiles that appear "risky" will be treated as such by lenders.   It's a business decision and most of us here have had unfavorable decisions at some point.   It can be frustrating and disappointing, but it can also be a learning tool.   If denied, get those free CRs and review.   Review the denial letters and figure out the action that needs to take place.

I want to put my comment back a bit only in that I was not trying to be nasty or mean-spirited.   However, I stand by what I said.  When I first joined this site, I coined a phrase that I share with my offline friends and associates:" there are no victims in credit repair".  We are where we are due to the decisions and circumstances that we have placed ourselves..be it internal or external forces.

I simply see it as, we operate at the the pleasure of the creditors...and they decide whether we get to enjoy the pleasure of their wares(credit cards).  And when I stumbled for years and years, I never said, that they are "xxxxx" because they wouldn't do such and such..."  However, I do understand that people have critiscm of various lenders' CSR techniques.  I am aware of that, and that is fine.   I hopefully will soften up and see things a different way.

I again don't desire to be someone that stands on the verge of getting banned or known as a d-bag..

Thank you for clarification.   I didn't feel that you came from a ill-intended point of view, but I know having only words to read (no gestures or vocal inflections) can make it more challenging to get our intended tone across in a forum.

I think it's important to be honest on the forums.  It's crucial in our credit journeys.    It's much like being that friend who tells you that you have spinach in your teeth.   Teeth, much like CRs, can be quite distracting when not clean.   But honesty is a two-edged sword and we have to be careful how we wield it.

And I also stand by my comment. If I dont like them for whatever reasons, that's my opinion. I don't have to be loyal to them just because they extended their credit to me. This is a two way street. They should be happy to have me as a customer as I should be to have them as a lender because without me(or other customers), they won't make money. Just because you gain a customer, it doesn't mean that you should provide lackluster customer service. I'm not upset just because they denied me credit. If that was the case, I would be mad at plenty other lenders also. It's a combination of things. Regardless of my scores, while CapOne seems to not care, Synchrony, Chase, and Barclay has stepped in. They can continue to do what they feel works for them, and I will do the same.

i figured the relationship with them would mean something

IMO there's far too much emphasis on "relationship" here.  Relationship may help in some cases but don't rely on it.

EDIT: I did not make this clear initially, but this was not something that happened within a few days or even a week or so. It happened over a period of months.

Even so that's still a lot of apps and hard pulls for (what I assume to be) your credit profile.  You should have received letters with denial reason(s) via mail and should not have applied after the first denial without looking at the reason(s) to see about addressing the reason(s) first.  If you're getting denials then don't just keep applying.  Find out why and work on it.  You can't expect different results if you keep doing the same thing (i.e. applying with the same creditor and same credit profile in this case).

I'm no fan of CO myself but they're not to blame in this case.  They did not force you to repeatedly apply.

Re: Aggravated with Capital One

Again, I fail to see where they have "provided lackluster service" in this case simply because they declined you.

You applied for several products (at 3 HP each) in a row. They declined you again and again because they aren't willing to extend you more credit. It's not about "stepping up" to anything -- they can't just give you unlimited money.

If you can explain what you are mad about other than being declined, please share, because it seems unfair to call it bad customer service because you don't get everything you want. They're a lender, not a charity -- they have rules and regulations for how much and what they lend. Are they too conservative towards some people? Yes, but then you move on and use one who is nicer to you. Like I said before, we all have stories about any lender. I do not particularly care for how Chase responds to attempts to improve my account (APR reduction), so I just told myself I won't use them in the future and will be likely closing my card with them sooner or later. I don't post threads about how much they annoy me -- they just don't work for me. It's not bad customer service because they won't give me what I want. They just choose not to lower APR by my request. That's fine, I have other lenders who will, so I just move on.

I think being transfered 3 times while trying to ask a simply PC question is considered "Lackluster"
