Just received an email from American Express stating this:
"We want to let you know that the Cardmember Agreement we sent to you as part of your most recent product change didn't have the correct Annual Membership Fee included. We're sorry for this error and any confusion it may have caused.
The correct Annual Membership Fee is provided below."
And this:

Maybe I've missed discussions about this? Got this email a few mins ago. If valid, this would be awesome

Is this for the Amex Gold? I haven't received anything like this, so far...

When does your next annual fee come due?
I believe that if your annual fee comes due before April, 1 2019 the annual fee will be $195 for that renewal then $250 the following year.
Edit: The product change wording. Did you have the PRG before the refresh and were then part of the refresh or had you explicitly product changed from another card type?
Did you get a product change from the Premier Rewards Gold card? If so, the annual fee for former PRG holders remains $195 until April 1, 2019 then will be raised to $250 as the renewal dates occur.

I had the PRG, next AF will post Aug 2019
Looks like you lucked out then.

Very interesting though why they would do this? ... I wonder if anyone else has gotten the same email
OP, I received this message today as well. I had the PRG turned Gold and my annual fee isn’t due until 5/2019. I hope somehow I’ll get locked in on the $195 but not holding my breath. If (or when) it does go to $250 is when I’ll be when I ditching the card. Not worth the $250 for me personally.
