So I recently applied for an Amazon store card a little less than a month ago, and I was approved for $1500(!!!). I decided to call and ask for a CLI because why not. The representative asks a bunch of questions and then asks for a phone number for verification. She then explains to me that my phone number cannot be verified. What? I did recently (in January) get a new number when I got my own phone contract, but what is this verification nonsense that cannot be done any other way than through my phone? Is there anything I can do about this? Will I never be able to ask for increases on my Synchrony cards?
maybe you can update your phone number via account settings? otherwise love button or live chat via amazon account page
Did you change your phone number in your account? If so, it just may be slow to update. If you try it again, give them your old number AND new number. Be sure to tell them you recently got a new number but here is the old number they may be looking for.
I was denied twice for an increase from Amazon. After 6 months of having the account, I went from $3k to $7.5k today. They also asked me for my phone number and asked if it was cell or land line. I found that odd because they didn't ask me that in the past. They are an odd one for me to figure out.
Hi! It is the same phone number on my account which is the weird part. I originally tried the chat function at which point it told me I needed to call the number. (I'm pretty sure it's because of the phone "identity verification".)
Interestingly enough, Walmart said the same thing about not being able to verify my identity with my phone number. I'm honestly just really confused as to why they can't do it any other way.
Real phone number or voip of some sort eg google # etc? They just text me or call on the number i tell them too in the past
It's definitely a real phone number through TMobile. I opened the account with this being my phone number as well.
I originally did try chat, but that lady told me I needed to call in and speak to some one. The lady I talked to on the phone actually said that they wouldn't be able to process any CLI until they could verify me. It really doesn't make any sense.
Interestingly enough, I figured out the identity mystery. I had an initial fraud alert placed on my account which I called and cancelled. I then tried the chat feature again and was increased to $4,000(!!!). I was also able to get my Gap card increased to $2,500.
