Hi guys,
I've got an old amazon prime store card that's been on my report for the last 7 years, one of my first cards I got when trying to rebuild my credit. It's the only store card that I still have. I now have great credit, 800+ across the board and am looking into tidying up my finances.
I shop on amazon (a lot a lot) and have been using the 5% cashback on the store card. I don't shop at whole foods.
My limit is stuck at $10,000 and I have not seen an increase for the last 2-3 years.
Is there any benefit to closing this store card and opening up an Amazon Chase visa? I have a CSP and not worrying about the 5/24 rule. I just want to know if having a store card at this point is worth it and whether a co-branded amazon visa will do me better in the long run?
The Chase card has some features the store card doesn't. Extended warranty for your purchases for one. Why not have both? I do. Helps with AZEO.
It is a great card for the same 5% back. You are "stuck" at $10k because that is the general max CL. The Chase version goes much higher of course.
I closed my Store card as I wanted to reduce my overall Sync exposure.
I don't know if the store card did this as well, but last month or so, there was a period of a few weeks when, providing you selected a slightly slower delivery, the prime card would give you 6% back.
Not a huge reason (especially as it may not be repeated)! But I have to have it for WholeFoods, which is not relevant for you

Yup, I use that feature whenever I can. I used to take the digital dollars for slower shipping but I'd rather have cash, even if it's only 1%. I'll take some inconvenience for more CB - I can easily be bought, lol.
Also, it's not as often as I would like but sometimes the Chase card has special CB offers. I think it was Q4 '22 that had 10% CB on gas.
