My Amazon account is two months old with a $1300 SL. I charged $870 on the first statement and paid in full through two payments. I used a little over $1200 on the second statement and paid in full on 10/28. My account page still shows a $1300 CL but, although the balance is $0, it only shows $44 available credit.
I contacted Sync via chat to find out why my available credit had not updated. Per the CSR, “If we get multiple payments on an account and if the payment amount is unusual, then we do not apply the payments. We wait to get an approval.” He also referred to the payment as “huge” on a new account. He then told me it should be updated in 4-5 days. No update yet. The payment cleared with my bank on 10/30. I am now wondering if the "approval" he mentioned was internal.
Is this typical of Sync or am I about to be CLD’d? What worries me is I have accumulated about 5k in debt since opening the card due to home renovations. I have 6 cards at 0 balance, two at 85% util, and one at 40% uti. Scores are mid to upper 600s.
Not much to worry about, most likely. Synchrony is one of a handful of lenders that can be very cautious with payments on new accounts (large and/or multiple payments); they just want to cover themselves as they get to know you to make sure you're not just clearing out someone else's bank account. If the credit line is too low for your spending and your profile supports a larger limit, you can always try giving their overseas (not the domestic one) Credit Solutions number a ring.
I don't think you're going to be subject to adverse action. Rather, you're going to simply be subject to annoyance and inconvenience.
I had the same thing happen when I made large payments on my now closed Synchrony CareCredit card. I don't remember the details anymore. But they told me that payments over a certain amount were held and that if I had made two smaller payments, my available credit would have been restored immediately.
