When it comes to CLI you can take the words reward and gift out of your vocabulary. A gift is given and not expected to be paid back and if your using a credit card you know your certainly giving something back. The reward is what you earn from using the rewards structure of a card. A CLI is simply the bank saying we trust you with a little more of our money. Keep in mind when it comes to credit cards, there is no personal relationships it's all business.

You may get that warm fuzzy feeling of belonging to the mythical Amex family and give them all your business, but they could care less about you and your loyalty, they have no loyalty. They are indeed a cold feeling free lending institution and you are nothing more than a name, number and algorithm.

Not to rain on your parade or anything, just being real. Don't put all your eggs in one basket credit card wise. Give your business to several good companies and build your profile and CR's up and you will be fine. Use your cards and be responsible and in time you'll get bigger limits and nicer cards but always keep in the back of your mind that a banking relationship could end one day and be fine with it if it does.

I understand your point.  I was planning on putting my business between Amex and Discover cards mostly.  I guess credit cards aren't like other things where loyalty matters.  I guess living in Las Vegas where the Mob and/or Union runs things, isn't how the real world works lol.

Re: American Express Details

The rule is you can't make more than one payment on new bank accounts listed with AMEX system, so that if there is an issue with the bank AMEX will only have allowed one payment. The work around if you want to use it is to push the payment from your bank to AMEX  then you can make as many as you like.
