Amex AA?

I opened 3 new Amex acct's in the beginning of Sept and was hit with an FR within a week of activating the first card. 2 days later called that I passed it but they did not give me any CLI's to my $1K/$2K/$2K limits as I've seen done for other people here post-FR. I've seen people say that it's not a good idea to go on app much when one has an Amex. Is that only out of fear of an FR or are they known for AA's? I would like to go on a small app spree sometime soon just because all my non-Amex cards are garbage.

Re: Amex AA?

chaotic,

i think you are fine too.  I had an FR this year.  I have also increased my credit lines with AMEX after the FR.  I have obtained several new lines of credit to get rid of my crappy cards.

Re: Amex AA?

Suprised to hear this but after you pass FR I think you should be ok. However, had you had something significant happen like loss of income in house or maxing out cards or anything?

From what has been posted on this board it is "diff" behaviors that can trigger financial review.

Forgive me if you feel this is wrong. but I don't consider a FR  an AA-cuz they are famous for this and I haven't heard of them ratejacking anyone or deleting TL from an AA but if so, others plz post and correct me if I am wrong.

I just know from being on the board that to be prepared for a FR when and if the time comes.

Nothing like that. I was FR'ed because I applied for 5 Amex CC's within a week while I had an $800 CL card with a $541 balance to take advantage of 0% APR!

Wow, 5 AMEX apps within one week!  I think you have become the Sleigh Center's poster child!  I am very much impressed that you got 3 within one week.

*Bows* I actually app'ed the Clear first because in the "get a credit card" it says it's for fair credit—ha! Then I found this forum. I was also declined for In:NYC. I wanted to get 2 and was approved for Delta Gold and HHonors. By the end of the week I thought I may as well try Starwood and I'm ready for my FR. Couldn't believe I was approved! Then the FR came a week later. Faxed some paystubs the following day and 2 mornings later they called me and said I was okay. No big deal and definitely worth the extra $5,000 in TL's when I just had $1600.

Re: Amex AA?

I see.  I admire your spunk.  I have been afraid of applying for more, because of the old saying "only apply for credit when you really need it."   I would love to have the guts to apply for 2 or 3 more AMEX CC's.

Re: Amex AA?

You mean my impulsiveness and impatience? Something to admire there... I'm ready for my cameo for sleigh center poster boy—I just apped for a BOA Amex because I was finally preapproved according to the site and Kay jewelers. Kay gave me $3,800 and BOA gave me the 30 day message. Probably because I just put on a fraud alert, so there's still hope. So now in the last 1.5 months I have went from $1,600 to $11,000 or more.

I'm now ready to join the new AA.
