Amex APR: How common is this?

Just got in an APR temporal reduction, i was wondering how common is this from Amex? I activated it in my 35K HH. Still i will always PIF so it's not so important for me but i thought it was nice. The offer won't entice me to spend more. I have gotten a lot of this offers and balance transfers from Citi. Had a citi card in 0% a little more than a year, other Citi is 15% nothing like a CU... and i was amazed (in a bad way) when i was approved for my Amex at 24% !.. I guess because it was the first one. Anyways, this is just a temporal APR so i might call in to have the permanent one reduced, but was wondering how often is this? and is this the lowest promo APR?,  or do they give it for longer? Hilton Honors - No AF card. Anyways, just wanted to share!

It's really profile and account specific. I've always had one. Another one available once temp APR expires. I've even been automatically enrolled a couple of times.

If I had one would this show up under the normal offers?   I have never seen any from AMEX.  It is a pretty good offer if you don't have any current BT offers or better offers with other cards.

Hop on chat or give them a call. Ask if you have any APR promos.

Re: Amex APR: How common is this?

I don't recall reading too many reports on this happening with Amex, at least not as often as with other Lenders. Likely because Amex is geared more towards transactors but the profile specific reason probably plays a larger part in it.

Speaking of, out of the blue Amex just lowered my standard APR from 22% to 19.75% on my Bonvoy Biz card.

+1.  I've received these types of promos on my Schwab Investor card as well as HHonors, Delta and a few others.

Re: Amex APR: How common is this?

Very common in my experience. Although I suspect it's not widely-used by their customers, given how little of their revenue comes from interest payments.

Chase Sapphire Preferred ($24.005k), Fidelity VS ($17K), United MileagePlus Explorer ($17K), Chase Freedom ($15K), Chase Freedom Unlimited ($15K), AmEx Blue Cash ($12.5K), IHG One Rewards Premier ($6.1K), US Bank Cash+ ($5K)
