hi credit family,
quick question. if my girl adds me as an au to her amex everyday card with 8k limit and 0$ balance will that potentially help me get back in with amex?
thank you all in advanced.

Only in so much as it helps your overall credit file but Amex will look at you and your accounts to determine if you could get approved. You being an AU on one of their cards doesn't mean much to them. If you burned them in the past, that's what they'll look at. In fact with Amex, if you burned them in the past they often will not approve people as an AU.

thanks for the quick response ! she just added me and it all went thru fine , card should arrive in a week or so. I did however burn a macys card that i think was cobranded by amex, does that count the same as burning them? my bk was discharged back in 2013 and since then ive been trying to build up my profile again.

No, that won't count as burning them. The Macy's amex is backed by Depatment Stores National Bank and the main Amex cards issued from their site are backed by Centurion Bank. So while they care that you defaulted on a CC, it's not anywhere near as bad as defaulting on one of their cards. Generally Amex will decline people with BKs until they age to 4 years or so.
im tempted to apply

You may be tempted to apply but you may not want to waste the HP. What's your EX score looking like? Any baddies since BK?
ex is currently 695 no baddies only rebuilding utilization is 9% excellent payment history and my current cards and limits are in my signature, whats your opinion creditguy? should i take a stab at it , i would love to just get in the door with them and then i would use it as my every day and pif every month mayb run 1k plus thru it a month depending on my sL

Well your profile looks great and your EX score is good, based on that your a great candidate. However as Irish pointed out they usually like 4 years post BK discharge. That would be your only hang up. If you can spare a HP then to satisfy your temptation by all means roll the dice, if not then perhaps wait until next year. I know waiting is not fun but hey you've done an awesome job rebuilding and have excellent cards, Amex will always be there when your ready to pull the trigger.
thanks for the great advise i will garden for the rest of this year hopefully and pull the triggerin a year or two

I'm glad you were able to be added as an AU on your gfriend's Amex.
I believe it's just the system used to process transactions, not a true Amex. Do a search for Amex and BKs. Best of luck!
