Amex Benefits Question

Was just approved for the Amex Platinum.  My question is, do the benefits apply immediately?  Specifically, the $50 Saks credit.  I've read I get a $50 credit twice annually, Jan-Jun then July-Dec.  If I go buy something at Saks tomorrow will I get that credit or do I need to wait for January to roll around?   Same when it comes to the uber credits.  Am I eligible to receive Decembers credits or will that begin with the 2021 calendar year?

You get it one per half-year with Saks, so you will get it this month (I did it two weeks ago). BUT wait until your card arrives and you set up online access - you have to activate the credit under the benefits tab or it won't work. Once you have your Plat in your account, go to Benefits, scroll down to the Saks line, and activate it. Once it says Activated, you're good to go.

Are we not enrolling in the Global Lounge Collection because we feel other cards have that covered?

Add your Platinum card as a payment method to your Uber account and you should get $35 this month.

Note that the Uber benefit comes in the form of Uber Cash...not a statement credit.

Nope, just haven't done it yet since I'm not flying in the near-term. I have a few travel-related benefits still to set up. Uber is one I plan to do this week though - no sense in wasting free Uber cash. I had Hilton Gold already with my Surpass but I did set up Marriott and link that and I have the car rental companies added as well. Busy time of year so the less-urgent ones have been put aside for the moment is all.
