Re: Amex CC do NOT like minimum payments

a change in my credit bureau report. that was all they said.

at this time i had never missed a payment on anything in my life but did get my first 30 day late on a mortgage the month this happened.

however, it was still my only late that time out of about 20 accts...so i still dont believe it was justified.

Sorry. That is why I watch everything to the dime cuz of what CC's can do- ratejack, decrease Cl's etc if your CR reports something adverse...

sorry for you-sorry that happened. Cheer up- you love discover right?

Re: Amex CC do NOT like minimum payments

luckily every credit bureau except experian removed these items after i disputed. to this day, i think thats the reason my experian report always tends to be 90-100 pts lower than eq and tu

Most creditors are quicker with the AA than they are with the LUV.  I had one UD me for a loan reporting a 5 dollar late payent that was never late.  Had they nt UDd me I would never have n=know this was on my report.  I had them correct it as it was their posting date, not my payemnt date but the card would not lower back to the original rate.  I paid an closed. That was the day I leared always to have a back up.

Amex loves perfection, a late will open you to all sorts of uglies not only with them but with just about all creditors.

Re: Amex CC do NOT like minimum payments

yes, i did have a bad experience with amex. i had 3 charge accts with them that had the revolving option. i always pd more than the minimum BUT received a letter after years of having this service saying to pay my balance at once and that i was no longer offered that option.

i couldnt pay all balances in 1 month, so the accts were "paid acct, was a charge-off" closed by consumer.

i learned a valuable lesson. (btw i had perfect history and had never been late before this)

Like many posts here, I am sure there is more to this story. Usually "charge-offs" are not closed by the consumer for one thing.

It is quite possible that they wanted to change your arrangement because of credit issues elsewhere on your report. If this was the case and you used a lot of "drama" they may have pushed you to pay up immediately. Being on this site means we have all most likely had issues with credit and my feeling, there is almost always some action that we could, or could not have taken that leads to our circumstances. The important thing is to learn from those circumstances and as with all things in life, never say never, or you may spend your life in a corner.

Good luck,

RP

Re: Amex CC do NOT like minimum payments

For existing Card Members, the new min due calculation will not go into effect until may '08. As long as you make your min pymnts each month, no lates/overlimits and you are not at a defautl rate, your min due will not change.  This was done because of congress wanting the CCC's to get people out of debt faster.  The max your min due will be is 4% of bal, plus any late/overlimit fees.

Re: Amex CC do NOT like minimum payments

Making only minimum payments for an extended period of time is a sure fire way to a FR. I make sure I pay at least 5 times the min and keep my util very low on my Blue card...currently it's at about 4%.
