So has anyone tried requesting more than a 3X CLI on an Amex carad?
If you want to use the automated system, the limit is 3x current limit. Otherwise, apparently you have to talk to a CSR. Considering you can use the automated system every six months most people find the 3x adequate.
Amex is very generous, it doesn't take long to get high limits. My BCE was originally $1,000, at 61 days $3,000, then in six months $9,000. I then applied for a Hilton Honors card which was issued at $10,000. I was able to get the HH card increased to $25,000 at the six month point. In another six months I might apply for an increase on the BCE. Although my current limits are adequate.
I opened my BCE around the 1st of the month. Opening limit of $20,900. 3x CLI should be available sometime mid February. mmm 3x CLI would be $62,700, but no way in heck am I going to shoot for that. However, I am thinking of going above the $25k to see if they really try to ask for income verification.
I'm in a similar situation as HiLine. Got a $1000 limit on my Amex Delta. I wonder if they accept CLI more than 3X.

My opening limit was 25K in Feb (I thought that this was just the CL on my Blue Sky, which they closed when I opened my BCP, but the credit report shows that that had a $20K limit, so I guess I got a CLI without knowing). I asked for 35K last month, I had to send in the IRS form that allows them to get my last two tax returns, so not too much work.
They gave me 28K, saying I had charged too little and the card was too new for $35K
riker20 and bs6054,
How on earth were were guys able to get opening limits SO high ? Did you already have any CCs with such high limits at the time of applying?

Yes, I had other cards with higher limits. Long credit history and reasonable salary, remember there is a wide variety of people on this forum, those just starting out with credit, those rebuilding after some trouble, and all sorts of others.
