Amex CLI Question

My Oasis card turned to Clear last night. I see an option on the screen for CLI. I pressed it and asked for cli from $5K to $7.5k. I got message, I would hear from them in 7-10 days. Is it a decline?

haha, your really pressing all of the buttons with amex!

most likely declined, but someone is personally going to review it now vs computer.

Re: Amex CLI Question

if they converted to Clear and treating the Clear as a new card

maybe it's just the 60 day policy going into effect (letter in the mail no CLI possible within 60 days of opening account).

how hard could it be for them to actually change that message on their site and just let people know right there about the policy instead of 7-10 days bs ;p

I am beginning to agree with you about pressing all the buttons with amex. I have to find a new hobby to keep my self busy and stay away from amex.

I'll wait for 7 - 10 days and see what happens. When I saw that button for CLI, I went for it. Later I was telling my self, I should not have done that. Oh well....

Re: Amex CLI Question

Most of them time when you hear the automated system said, You will receive a letter in the mail within 7-10 business days means YOU ARE DECLINED. That's another professional way of saying, You are not approved.

I just wish the automated system works like Suzie Orman..

Re: Amex CLI Question

I have great credit and there is NO WAY I would ask AMEX for a CLI right now. Seriously, they're looking for any reason in the world to close accounts right now. Smiley Surprised

Re: Amex CLI Question

The exact same thing happened to me 3 weeks ago (see this thread.)

It took 2 weeks for them to send me a letter requesting that I fill out a Form 4506-T Request for Transcript of Tax Return to verify income.  My CL seems to be intact for the moment, but the letter states that they will "give no further consideration to (my) appplication" unless I fax back the form within 30 days.

I'll be faxing the form to them soon and update my thread if anything changes on my account.

Good luck to you!

Re: Amex CLI Question

Like you, I also recently did a PC with AmEx.  When I opened my account with them two years ago I had a Clear Blue card.  I converted it to Blue Cash last October and they were kind enough to bump my CL by another $5k and give me 0% interest for the first year as a bonus.  I was really feeling the love back in October, but when I recently got that 7 - 10 day message after hitting the Luv button I felt like a red-headed step child.

Agreed.  I am leaving my AMEX CL exactly where it is  Smiley Happy
