Ok wait a minute. Maybe I'm misunderstanding, and you guys could clear this up for me.
I had always thought and had read that when you ask for a CLI from Amex, that you are not allowed to ask for another 1 for at least 90 days. If you ask before the 90 days is up from your last request, the 90 day clock resets and you have to wait a full 90 days more before being able to ask again. Asking before your 90 days is up from your last request, will automatically DQ you from getting a CLI.
Is that no longer the case or just never been true?

No, I don't believe that's ever been true. If you request a CLI before 90 days, your get denied for trying too soon, but it doesn't reset the clock. You simply try again after 91 days. THEN if you're denied after 91 days, yes, the clock resets for another 91 days.
Are you sure Omar? Here's a thread from just within the last month or so that says the 90 day clock does reset if you ask to soon for a CLI.

no. that thread says no such info lol. if denied you can request in 91 days. if you request at 90 (as op did) then it will deny you but it doesn't restart. if you're approved you need to wait 181 days. there's really not much to it.
Seriously?!?
Are you referring to the link I just posted? There's a couple of people in the link I provided that say that the clock does reset if you ask for a CLI too soon.
EDIT: Here's a quote from that link...
TortoiseWins wroteRight, but the 91 days since denial for CLIs still applies. So I'd think depending on the use of 'recently' it hinges on that. The day count is across all cards: 91 days after deinal for CLI and 181 days after successful CLI.

i read through it. if you ask at 70 days it doesn't reset.
You mean 90 right?
Ok well then if you read it then how did you miss this?

Here's another one from that link that says you have to wait 90 more days after your most recent denial as well...

But I can try again in 90 days (already marked on my calendar). And, seriously, AMEX gave me some ridiculous SLs (the BCP is still my highest CL by far), so I'm not too broken-hearted.
Thanks for the positive thoughts, everyone.
The clock does not reset if you ask too early. I read the other thread and don't see any post that says it does. Even if there is one, they are mistaken.
