Amex CLI timing

I received a CLI about 4 statements ago. I have a balance I'm planning on paying off in a couple weeks. Would it be too soon to ask for a CLI? Is it 91 days or 6 months from your previous CLI? Does it matter if there's a balance or not?

From the reports I've seen in the forum, Amex is not as predictable as it once was in terms of time periods, and many people have gotten CLI's after shorter intervals than used to be the case. So if you can use it, my advice would be to ask for it.
