Read the 3x CLI Guide. It covers these and much, much more. I don't have a link handy. It's on this site. It's the first hit when I Google "3x CLI".

It's not just about the passage of time though AmEx may have some sort of limit on how many cards you can open within a given timeframe. However, with your profile you have issues you need to work on before you worry over applying for anything. I'm guessing you also have a number of new accounts that you need to allow to age so they're not adversely impacting you. Hit Rebuilding and carefully research for the derogs.
With 38 credit cards, 17 being store cards, the last thing I would do personally is worry about adding more cards. But that's just me. I don't know anything about your income, spend, individual card usage etc. but I'd venture to guess that you aren't using all 38 of those cards consistenly? Also based on your total CL your cards on average are under $1k limits. It might be worth cutting lose a handful of cards that you don't use much or at all and work on growing a select few of them to stronger limits. Just my opinion, although that probably wasn't what you were after in this thread.

I am not going to apply for any more cards and my plans are to let the current good ones grow. I will be closing some of the crap store cards that is bringing down my average. I was asking for moving forward and also for my wife amex cards. We both want to max out with cards with Amex. We want to know the max number of charge and revolving cards we can have with them.

Why that goal? Generally, get the cards that make most sense for your spending pattern and goals, rather than start with an issuer.

Well, it does work with us. We are traveling more. We will use the detla and hilton which we already have. Then use the PRG for those points. We want to look into cash back card as well. I know not to throw all our eggs into one basket. I just like amex and their products. My parents have had an amex card since early 90's and only but positive.
