Amex Questions

I've been denied a CLI last 2x I tried on my BCP. Recently dropped a credit card and wanted to fill in for that, so I got the pre-approved Hilton Amex. It approved me for $20,000 (far more than I've ever had).

Can I transfer part of that limit to my BCP?

Re: Amex Questions

You should be able to transfer limits from one personal card to another personal card. I believe you can even transfer limits from business to personal but not from personal to business.

Others will have to chime in about the timeframes for that. I would say if you have the option in your online account management, you should be able to give it a try.

Make sure though, that they did not already take available credit from one of your cards to fund the new card. They have been doing that lately.

Thanks for the info. I thought I read it before, but didn't want to make a call next week and look a fool. Right now, both my amex cards are 1,000 and 1,600. My delta is at 0 utilization and BCP is always around 15%. I max the card out 2x a month almost between gas and groceries, then follow to pay down 1% extra a month.

Sucks having to pay a card 2-3x a month, hence me wanting to transfer some of the limit.

You can transfer personal to personal, business to business, and personal to business, but never business to personal.

You should be able to reallocate credit lines immediately in your online account.  Note that you can move limits from one card to another card one time per 31 days.
