Amex Revolver Limit?

So I’ve read in a couple spots that Amex has a limit of 4 revolvers, but I’ve also seen some posts of folks getting 5, 6 and even 7.

I have 4 revolvers now (BBP, BCP, Biz Prime and Schwab) plus 2 charge (Schwab Plat and Gold). I’d like to snag up the Bonvoy Brilliant to replace my Ritz-Carlton but not sure if I’d get an instant denial.

Anyone know how soft that 4 revolver limit is?

They draw a line at 5 revolvers, but you can definitely get more. Just ask @Anonymous @K-in-Boston and @FinStar

Re: Amex Revolver Limit?

Good to know. I’m pretty sure profile density and income really weight in after their “general public” limit but wasn’t sure where it was. Thanks!

Re: Amex Revolver Limit?

No true limit, but for most people the real limit is 5 revolvers use to be 4, but has been 5 for awhile.  With that said if you are high income and scores there really is no limit as I know several people with 8-10 cards on this board being all revolvers from Amex/Centurion bank.  If you ask them(amex) they say there is no limit it is what your profile supports aka income, etc.  I have always personally been stuck at 5 along with most others.  Few outliers such as @Mahraja  and @FinStar and alot others certainly break this mold Smiley Happy.

Re: Amex Revolver Limit?

Certainly no true limit if your profile supports it as others stated. Keep in mind you would need to close your Ritz-Carlton for 30 days prior to applying and you will lose one of the few remaining “real” Visa Infinite cards, along with the $100 airline credit that comes with it. Ritz-Carlton is the one card I truly regret not picking up.

@CreditCuriosity, yeah I think we can comfortably agree that @FinStar and @Mahraja make up that .02% that can venture into that territory. I don’t foresee myself getting 6 or more but stranger things have happened.

I just noticed your cards are ordered by color.

Re: Amex Revolver Limit?

@K-in-Boston I'm with you there. I’ve used the $100 airline credit several times and it’s very useful, but haven’t been venturing to Ritz properties. But it’s pretty much free after I use up the annual certificates, free night and airline credits.

The Bonvoy would essentially pay for itself too with the $300 property credit and free night so I’ve been contemplating to move it from Chase to Amex or keep it as is.

Re: Amex Revolver Limit?

My one regret is cancelling my Ritz card and not being able to get it back prior to them closing up new applications.  I wouldn't close it if I were you.  Didn't read that portion of the post.  Nothing quite matches the Ritz card for various reasons, not the best earning card, but other cool perks and as mentioned it is a true "infinite" card
